Too many pieces..Kerry L.This came in many pieces. All separate...to return to the store it has to be taken all apart..hard enough to put it together in the first place. BE careful when buying from IKEA as you have to return everything not put together. Very disappointing.2

Versatile Piece of FurnitureMAGGIEI love the Besta. I have use it in different rooms of my home and also in some clients homes. I usually customize it with different legs and knobs or pulls. I mostly use Laxviken doors. They are my favorite. I buy the 47” Base as well as the 70 “. The only thing I would change is the back panel. It’s too flimsy and can easily break. I usually replace with a sturdier piece of wood from the HD of Lowe’s.4
Gets ComplimentsWILLIAMWhen people walk in my office and see these hanging on the wall, everyone gives compliments about how they look. They were pretty easy to put together. One thing I did have to do was build my own support so they could hang on the wall because none of the ideas in the area had the suspension rails needed to hang on the wall. other than that these were a great price for what i got.5
Definitely not for consoles out of the boxCory S.I purchased this one for the purpose of using it as a tv stand to hold all of my consoles from old school to modern. As a result I added additional shelving to the unit but in doing so made it impossible to plug anything in in half the unit without cutting the backboard apart. That one is on me, but even more problematic is how nowhere in this unit is adequate airflow for electronics possible without modification. A ps4 for example has almost no clearance and will be blowing hot air directly onto the backboard then back onto itself until it overheats unless the unit is cut up with fans potentially added for cooling. In addition to that there is no way to mount it to the wall if you're using an outlet behind the unit because again the back panel is in the way. Unfortunately you cannot completely remove the back panel without wall mounting as well for structural integrity defeating the purpose of fixing the airflow problem. It is definitely not usable for this without modifications2
TV standJAMESSolid, good quality. It works well for what we wanted. Assembly was easy. I wish it came in beech or birch.4

Good but not perfectMichael B.I purchased this TV unit because I needed to be able to customize the storage. Ikea's base units do offer a lot of options in this regard. I'm happy with the end result, but disappointed in some of the hardware. As with most Ikea cabinets, they require assembly with screws, nails and brackets. In this case the round brackets that hold the sections together are made of plastic, which broke. Even if they don't break, relying on these plastic brackets for the stress they endure is not smart. Fortunately, I had leftover metal versions of the bracket to use from other Ikea cabinets I built, so I did not have to return the unit (whic would have resulted in a 1 star review). Ikea should really correct this shortcoming.4

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.

Function solution

Conceals all cords

BESTÅ TV unit has cord outlets at the back that makes it easy to conceal all your cords while still keeping them at hand. And the cord outlet at the top lets cords run smoothly even if your TV is mounted on the wall.
