Nice system, but poor qualityKai K.Initially I really liked the Besta system, and so we designed our whole living room around it with a TV stand, a hutch, and several other components. It had the design I liked and the flexibility to combine and customize many elements to fit your needs was great. So we went with it despite not directly being cheap. However, once having it home it immediately felt like one of the lowest quality products I have seen from Ikea. It isn't even the usual particle board, but instead made out of corrugated cardboard!! And indeed that first poor quality impression was unfortunately quickly confirmed. After only a few months the laminate fell apart on quite a number of the elements we bought, and exposed the fact that it was only cardboard inside. Very disappointing and not what I expected from Ikea, after having quiete a variety of Ikea products over decades.2

MehDEONWe were in a bind for storage and shelves solutions during a complete remodel of the living and dining rooms. In the mist of a covid-19 and supply chain issues, we purchased several BESTA systems while we could. We didn't get everything of course and decided to wait until the remodel was done and IKEA's inventory recovered. Fast forward 9 months later and the remodeling is done and we start putting together the BESTA furniture. Right a way we knew this stuff looked good, but it wasn't gonna last. We're not new to IKEA and have purchase many things over years and years. But this stuff...It's the cheapest particleboard I've ever seen! The side walls are thin and 50% hollow. So much so that when you take them out of the box you can hear some of the loose insides falling in the middle. I know particleboard is lightweight and cheap, but this is stuff is on a whole new level. If you buy it, just make sure your not planning of moving it around much. The taller systems WILL NEED SOME EXTRA BRACING SUPPORT IN THE BACK to keep it from shifting. Please make sure to support them to a wall.3
Practical and easy to installRicardoThe units were easy to assemble and install. The variety of options available allowed us to do the configuration that was needed.5
Easy to assembleKathyIt’s easy to assemble and you can add as many shelves as you would like and in different colors if you like a two tone look. The product itself is a bit wobbly after assembly but a wall hook can make it secure.4
Besta BoxNicholasGreat product, have used them on a couple of projects now.5
Useful to keep everything organizedDulce N.I used to complete my bar and it is amazing5

Great piece for the price!KAREEMAHWe use this piece to creat our own built in shelves. They look beautiful with the doors added to it.5
Perfection!ThomasI love the clean design, the ease of assembly, and the versatility of being able to create EXACTLY the combination I want!!5
Cabinet looks good -- VERY poor hardware parts and instructionsPatriciaThe cabinets look good and will do job. Assembling this was very hard because of poor quality hardware and extremely lousy instructions. Almost all the screws were really poor quality, causing them to wear down while trying to screw them in. Needed to use several wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. to succeed. Not sure whether the door hinges we received were supposed to be right/left side but ours were all the same and where screws went and adjust screws in wrong place.
The instructions with each piece had no writing or clear explanation of what to do, when to use, how etc. There were line drawings but not step by step,
We finished assembly but not sure if totally correct. It does look good, Will see how things go.
OH and the parts came in 24 different little packages!! Not one box with all the parts!!! Never bought anything with this many separate packages/boxes for one item... Still recovering3
Love this mix and match conceptShannonI like the rich dark wood grain look without the maintenance of an all wood product. Doesn't weigh as much. I liked the opportunity to choose a shallow 7+ " deep for a tight studio condo, but with the height and width to give sufficient storage. I love the endless possibilities of door fronts--even glass. I suspended 4 in an even sleek row about 1 1/2 ft from the floor with the TV mounted above. I'm a female with minimum handy skills and I put these puppies together in no time watching a great movie! I'm going to add glass tops to give a touch of class.5
Best ever shelf unitMICHAELPerfect size for organizing and holding my old record albums.5
Incredibly disappointed by the poor quality.Logan S.I've generally been happy with my IKEA products, but this is by far the most low-quality item I've ever purchased. The fasteners used on the base of this frame did not fit well and then immediately stripped, making it even more impossible to tighten. The legs I attached pushed through and damaged the opposite side. I consider myself very careful, especially when following directions and assembling furniture. This is by far the worst experience I've had with IKEA products. This whole cabinet was a total waste of money. I'm grumpy enough that I created an account just to post this review.1

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.
Forests are critical for life on earth
Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.
100% wood from more sustainable sources
At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.
IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030
As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.
We accomplish more by working together
For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.
What is constructed board?
We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light and resource-efficient, yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
