Different wall materials require different types of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for the walls in your home.
The push-open function requires a space between the frame and the drawer front to allow the drawer to be pushed to open. The small gap is necessary to allow this function and is not a product deviation.

I am not a fan and wish I had not ordered itScottHere are my opinions of the BESTA storage combination with drawers: It is not a good product and I'm sorry I ordered it. The online picture color is misleading. The particle board and fasteners are low quality. The drawers are misaligned and there is no way to make small adjustments so that the doors will open and close separately -- so the drawers are unusable. It is not good value for money. I once thought IKEA offered good value but I no longer have that opinion based on this product.
looks great, but otherwise awfulThomasThis looks great, but it is a nightmare to get squared. After assembling, the doors don't close properly, the drawers don't close properly, the frames are wobbly, and I'm not sure how the two parts are supposed to screw together. I could probably fiddle around with it and fix most of those problems, but the drawers aren't even adjustable. I've been assembling Ikea furniture for decades, but this is one of the worst pieces I have encountered. Even the materials are uniformly cheap. For the nearly $600 price point, I expected better. It will cost me another few hundred dollars to have this removed by a junk removal company. What a total waste of money and time.
Confusing assembly-easily scratchedBophaThe fact that there was no whole piece assembly instructions made it a little challenging. I know that IKEA products are not high end but for the price this should have been much sturdier. The pieces also scratch so easily. I should have read the reviews before purchasing as this piece will not last long. Very unhappy!
Not as picturedTamaraOrdered this online for delivery so did not see it in-store but it is not as pictured online once assembled. This storage combination is 2 cabinets that don't attach and therefore the top of the unit isn't one piece as shown and has a visible separation. One of the cabinets is crooked using the assembly holes as is so had to drill to readjust. The part that really bothers me though. Is the legs on the bottom. Due to the cabinet being multiple pieces, the legs are not evenly spaced across the bottom as shown in the picture and makes it look cheap. I paid for the delivery as the closest store is an hours drive. At this point, I'd have to unassemble it, and drive it back to return it. They need to chane the online photos to reflect what this piece(es) actually look like assembled because for $400 I would like to get what's advertised.
How can they sell this with no unified instructions?TylerThis order comes to you in 20 different packages/pieces. There is no single instruction booklet to follow step by step to get what you see pictured here. You have to build each individual item one by one and then "figure out" how to connect them and where everything should be by looking at the pictures. It's the worse piece of ikea furiture I've purchased and the quality is "Cheap ikea" particle board quality yet the price is almost $700 and I've paid less than that for solid wood "expensive ikea" quality and I'm very disappointed that IKEA would do this
Not sturdy, uneven cabinets, not as pictures, not worth the priceJericaThis was so disappointing for the price. This is two units of furniture, not one, so two pieces sit next to each other, creating a top that is not one piece. The cabinets do not align and are both crooked. This is extremely flimsy and overpriced. Highly disappointed. I should get around to returning it.
Don't buy! Two separate pieces of furniture.AlyssaWe have bought a lot of Ikea furniture and usually are very happy with the quality. However, the Besta is the worst piece of furniture we have ever bought from Ikea. This is not one piece of furniture as Ikea has pictured. The photos of the Besta are misleading. It is two separate pieces of furniture which sit next to each other and are not actually connected. The top is not one smooth board - it's two pieces. Beware if you put this on hard floor. The smaller cabinet will slide away when you open cabinets and drawers, so it stands out like a sore thumb that the furniture is separated. I would return if we had a vehicle large enough to take it back to the store. It was also difficult to put together as the directions are for the separate pieces and not for the whole thing. It is not sturdy like other Ikea furniture we have purchased. Very disappointed. Avoid my mistake by reading all the reviews before you buy.
Not as picturedMichelleI ordered the white oak besta combination and the website is misleading because its much darker than pictured. There is also a seam in the top as it's actually 2 separate units. I would not recommend this product and plan on returning it.
ok... butShioriit looked sophisticated but one top board came with a hole (damaged). I thought three storage units are connected but I didn't realized that this is two plus one storage so there is a separation between them. It is ok but not what I was imagining. The appearance looks good though.

Drawers are a painCynthiaAssembled the cabinet today- it was fairly easy at first until we got to the drawers. They don’t line up and you can’t close one without pushing or forcing over the other. It is so annoying. Also, it doesn’t have predrilled holes for the support legs. Do yourself a favor and get the actual legs instead and possibly all cabinet doors instead of drawers.
Vague Instructions + Horrible Customer ServiceIlanaI never write 1-star reviews, but I want to warn all future buyers about this item. It comes in 7+ boxes, each with different set of instructions, rather than any cohesive set of instructions. I spoke with a customer service agent on the phone, and another one via chat, and neither one could answer my question about assembly and instead insisted that I "hire Task Rabbit" rather than provide an answer. The material of the item is cheap and dents easily. I would definitely avoid purchasing, or purchasing something complex like this from IKEA generally.

Looks good, but difficult to assembleAnneThis sideboard looks great, but is a nightmare to put together. An enormous amount of boxes with instructions that were lacking. I have put together several fairly complex pieces of IKEA furniture by now and usually have fun doing it because I am intrigued by the ingenuity of it all - it sort of feels like I am playing with Lego. But this Besta piece was not fun. Frustrating.

Once I received it I noticed it was 18 boxes for one unit. And the bits are not attached. It’s so overwhelming not sure what box to open first! It’s still in boxes almost a month later.

Easy to AssembleAnonymousJust finished assembling this myself 2 days ago. I've assembled furniture several times before so this was not difficult for me. It looks nice and modern but I was surprised at how cheap the material was. You will have to adjust the latches on the doors until you get them to hang evenly but the illustrations on the hardware package show you how. .
