Definitely NOT with the priceMorganMy wife and I picked these bookshelves off the internet and bought 2 of them. If I would have saw them in person I would have never purchased. Picked them up in the boxes at a local Ikea pickup store and brought it home to assemble. This stuff is ridiculously cheap and flimsy. I can hardly believe this thing stands. It has been engineered to the most minimal standards possible and the materials are low quality. Although, I will say we got them put together, the instructions were simple and it is standing, but not exactly sturdy. I couldn't possibly recommend this bookshelf. I don't think it's unfair to call this what it is: junk.1
WORST PURCHASE EVERJaniceWe ordered this unit- it's $175 NOT CHEAP- but it's the perfect size for the space we needed.. We had it delivered because it won't fit in our car. Was very easy to assemble & looks great - BUT -a few days after assembling - the side panels have separated from the shelves! It's literally coming apart at the seams! NOW it's on us to find a way to get it back to IKEA for a refund & there is no customer service phone number anywhere. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BESTA AT ALL! Now ordering BILLY - which is cheaper but so well constructed - to replace this piece. IKEA should remove & refund BESTA when they deliver BILLY! 1
Nice but ImpossibleAnonymous reviewerThe product is nice, but this is simply impossible to put together. I’ve been working for hours trying to keep the backing board in the grooves, and I’m a very handy person. Do yourself a favor - if you need a cabinet this tall, get the small cubes and stack them on top of each other. Or pay to have this assembled. What a nightmare.2
Nice shelfElizabethI like the shelf and have been an Ikea customer for decades. But the reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that the materials seemed cheaper this time. Plastic cam locks and no wood pegs to help hold it together. Plus the frame is hollow. I have dressers that I bought in 2009 that are solid and still looking great after 5 moves! I am not so sure this would make it like that.4

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
