Complete CrapJagerSkimpy cheap piece of crap. Save your money and get something else. This bends and sags like crazy, and the power switch is directly above the bulb/lamp shade area, meaning it's even difficult to turn on and off. Horrible horrible horrible.
Structural issues over timeSusannaThis lamp base hasn’t held up over time. The area where it attaches to the base section has started to bend. The base is not even heavy enough to support the weight of the pendant I chose (an IKEA shade, supposed to be compatible) and just tilts over without additional weight holding it down. Super disappointed.

Hangs LOWRafaelWith a lamp shade, this lamp hangs significantly lower than depicted in the photo. I cut the last section off with tin snips and it is now much much better. It was super difficult, but at least the lamp is usable.
Does Not Appear as ExpectedAliciaDo note that the lamp hangs WAY lower than it shows in the pictures... It's too low for a reading chair even. The only way to get this lamp to fit the space, is to either have it supported from a line to the ceiling, or to cut the cord, remove one of the bars, then reattach the wires. I would not recommend this purchase.
Horrible!JoeOnce you put a shade on it the thing hangs so low that you hit your head standing up from your seat. I even chose the shade in the picture. Should have multiple screws at the first connection stabilizing it. Now I have to spend another half hour of my life disassembling it so it can be returned. Pure junk!

LOVE this lampAmandaWe have been wanting a lamp like this for a long time, but didn't want to spend a ton. When our current lamp was broken by my kids, and I saw the price of this one, I thought this is perfect! It's very sturdy, and we love the look of it. I could use the lampshade I had on the previous lamp too. We love it.
Impressive and dramatic floor lampKennethA bit tricky to assemble..had to use a step ladder. But once the screw holes are lined up (use your phones flashlight) it goes together quite easily. Be warned, the base is VERY heavy. So heavy that when I move it into final position, behind a couch, I will drag the base or use a dolly. I don't get the feeling the pole is sturdy enough to drag it by the pole. Kinda sounds like a crappy lamp, but quite honestly considering the price point, it's the most bang for the buck I've ever gotten from an Ikea lamp. Maybe build it in place?
All that said, this lamp is very dramatic and impressive!
Not worth the time/effortCaseyI should have read the reviews for this lamp. Despite the 3 step directions I could not figure out how to get the pole to insert into the base. I even watched the only youtube instructional video on how to assemble that a very cute 8 year old boy made where he easily snapped the two pieces together. As others have stated there must be a manufacturing defect in some of these that causes the nut to not fit into the base. I now have to drag this 40lb paperweight back to Ikea to return.
Missing screwsRalfThe package delivered did not contain any screws. When I called IKEA was not able to send me replacement fasteners and the lamp was out of stock, so I got my money back. I ordered replacement screws from another online retailer for about $10. In the end I paid about $10 for this; that works for me.
Hangs low and arm is flimsy. IT BROKE!CollinWould've been a decent purchase but it broke within two months. The screws were already stripped when I got it. The lamp hangs lower than advertised in store, and the arm material is flimsy. So flimsy that it snapped after a couple months of use. So its broken and I'm trying my best to return the product.
Doesn't work well with some IKEA shadesIreneIt would be helpful to specify the rated weight for the lamp shades in the specifications. Some shades (I tried KALLFRONT) are too heavy and bend the arm way too much. Otherwise, the arm could have been made using more rigid material.
Unfortunately, I might need to return it, because it doesn't work with that shade...
Tips overAnonymousThis was fine for the last few years on my carpeted floor. Although it was always too big for my space, much bigger than it seems in the photos. And it was lower than in the photos and it just hangs lower and lower over time. Even thought the base is SUPER heavy, it's now tipping up at the base from the post side and I have to keep a basket of weights on the base or it tips, I've tried countering it by shimming it in the front of the base to tip it back a bit, but no dice. Will probably have to get rid of it now.
Be careful when choosing a lampshadeAbbyThe assembly for this lamp is fairly simple, but if you are planning on adding a lampshade (like I assume most people would) be sure to use a shade with a large opening at the top. I made the mistake of purchasing a shade displayed next to the lamp with a small opening at the top only to find on the last page of instructions that you can only use shades with large openings at the top, otherwise the shade can't be adequately secured to the lamp.
Nice lamp but smart bulb doesn’t workLeanneThe lamp fits just where we want it, but unfortunately the smart bulbs that work fine in other lamps in our house won’t even turn on in this lamp.
Looks cool with some helpCaleb The lamp looked really nice in store, but it hangs much lower than displayed. I had to hang it up with picture wire from a hook in the celling to get it to look right because it was so flimsy. Ultimately I returned it because it didn't match my space.
Great Lamp!JesseDo not listen to these other reviews! I was very wary about this lamp after reading the reviews, but I ordered it anyways and it’s great. It does not slouch down too much. Depending on where you put the small screws in the neck of the lamp you could get some “play” in the neck or you could tighten them while holding the neck up for maximum height once the screws are tight. This is a very sturdy light and is tall enough for use over other furniture for overhead lighting where you need it.
