Great light if only...DrewThis is a very nice light. In my opinion, it would be nicer if the birch veneer had a coating of a matte finish of polyurethane or lacquer. The way it is now, the veneer has a really flat finish. Really, it has no finish! The other thing I'd like to see is that this lamp come equipped with small LED diodes. They're so cheap, it would probably lower the cost of the lamp. The styling is nice though and I feel these tweeks would go a long way in making it even nicer. I have no regrets purchasing it and may purchase another one and try to take the veneer off and add a finish to it!
Not for bedrooms.DanielLights rooms up very poorly. Light does not get output from the sides at all really, leaving the ceiling and corners of the ceiling dark. The solid wood sides look nice, but block all of the sideways directional light. This fixture is really only good at illuminating light downwards. Fixture is more appropriate for maybe a entry way or a hallway in my opinion.
It leaves a room looking pretty gloomy.
Pretty but...MaryanneIt makes these weird creaking noises, like branches breaking or floors creaking. Very odd. Must be the weight of the pieces when installed.

Great for FoyerCaitlinI just installed this in our foyer because we needed more light. It works great, and installation was easy due to the light (no pun intended) weight. I hope to remember to follow up this review in order to comment on whether or not I encounter the same issues as others. The area I installed the light is 5'x10' with 8' ceilings.

I'm looking for another overhead light solution complementary to it, to place in an adjoining area hope Ikea has options as the circumference is just a tad to much for the other area (it's a weird spot).

Poor build quality, thermal expansion/contraction causes lots of creaking and popping!JerryThe design of the light is quite nice, leads to some vignetting which is ok in smaller rooms (8ft ceiling, 12' x 12') but any larger leads to pretty significant shadows due to the design.
Bigger issue is that the shroud plastic/wood is not solidly constructed and this leads to a lot of creaking and popping sounds after the light is turned off and on due to thermal contracting and expanding. Maybe it is expected at this price point but I expected better.
