Some are not Perfectly BlownCesarI purchased two of the Jakobsyn clear globes. One hands like it should but the other must have been missed during quality control. It hangs crooked because the hole where the fixture attaches is off center. I would bring it back to my local store to exchange it but the store has none in stock and cannot tell me when more will be in stock. I guess that I will have to check back periodically. Hopefully more will arrive before the return/exchange period expires.
SilverMeganI bought the silver globe and it’s so beautiful!! I’m going to get the gray lightbulb as well. I tested out a big clear globe bulb I have and it makes the silver see through when I turn the light on! I feel like I can experiment with a lot of different lightbulbs. I also had a pendent light cord but it wasn’t big enough and the glass was resting on the lightbulb, so I’m going to go back and get the black pendent cord they sell at ikea. I can’t wait to hang it! It’s currently in my floor waiting to be hung. I love how shiny it is, it reminds me of an Escher drawing or something with the convex mirror reflecting everything. I love the mirrorized silver and think it would look good in my parents dining room too. Oooo and price point is affordable at $40 and glass looks thick to me. Yay!

shattered in my handsAnnaWas holding the shade to put it onto the pendant light fixture also purchased from IKEA, and the globe completely shattered in my hands, cut me, and broke another brand new larger, expensive light bulb in the process. Cant even return a completely shattered vase?? Extremely disappointed, expected much better quality at this price point for IKEA.

JAKOBSBYN pendant globes are very niceMarcThe JAKOBSBYN pendant globes are very nice. They are not too trendy so they won't go out of style too soon. The style can work with many other styles also. I used 6 globes in pendant fixture with parts from other sources. Also, as others have said, beware of the hole size in the top for the socket. I found that the tolerance is quite large so that you could possibly have a hole too large or too small. I had to exchange tow globes for that reason. I don't think they are too easy to break. They will break only if you really mishandle them.

Transformed my kitchen!LoraI’m happy to say that, despite the reviews, my beautiful globes arrived in perfect condition and were hung without breaking. I was so nervous about the comments regarding how easy they break etc. but, mine arrived in perfect condition and they are beautiful. I looked for over a year for large pendant shades. I didn’t want to have to order the entire fixture because mine are fine, I just didn’t like the shades. Finally I found these and what a fantastic price!

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
