Solid idea dragged down by subpar bracket designAnthonyWe had no issue with mounting the floating shelf to the wall itself, instructions were clear enough to follow. Even with hitting 2-3 studs for each shelf, we didn't trust the integrity due to the shelf having some decent wiggle after being secured to the bracket. We unfortunately had to go away from the "floating" aspect and added some decorative wall brackets from our local hardware store to add strength to the wall shelf.3

Disappointing - Bracket leads to sag, had to use L-brackets to fix which makes it not floatAveryI got it installed super easy. Used more screws and anchors than called for to secure the bracket to the wall (these are not provided). But the screws are so tiny that fasten the shelf to the bracket. It immediately drooped. Really disappointing, especially after driving all the holes. Got some cheap L brackets to eliminate the sag, but this defeats the whole point of a floating shelf. Really quite disappointed. Would not recommend.2

Not very stableBrittanyBeautiful shelf! I love the look of them. However, the mounting bracket is slightly smaller than the opening in the shelf and that causes the shelf to tip forward. It wobbles if you try to lift it up and down. Because of this, I would caution you to be careful what you want to use these for and maybe find a sturdier shelf. 3

We have used the floating shelves before in previous properties in the UK, so knew they were exactly what we wanted. Normally had all in white but have bought some black for the first time. Very happy with purchase as usual.

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.

How much weight can a shelf hold?

Even a strong wall shelf will only be able to bear a little weight if it's attached to the wall with the wrong hardware. For a wall shelf to be practical and secure you must use the right hardware for the wall type. Check if your walls are concrete, plaster or wood. There are hardware for all wall types. If you can, try to determine what part of the wall is load-bearing. The most secure place to mount a shelf is on the bearing part of the wall.
