A Little Birthday Gift to MyselfShermenI bought this little plant as a birthday gift to myself with my IKEA birthday coupon. I chose it because I wanted something living to bring home, and I really love it. It may be a small plant, but it has meaning to me.
One thing that did make me uncomfortable was the cashier's comment when I checked out. She said, “Oh, just a pot of plant? Who would just buy a plant?” I found that comment unnecessary and judgmental. It was not “just a plant” to me. It was something I intentionally chose as my birthday gift to myself.
