Why does the drawer hit the water trap in the sink cabinet?

If the drawer hits the water trap or adjacent fronts, it’s usually due to incorrect installation. Please check that the drawer runner is positioned correctly and that the bracket between the drawer and the front is mounted according to the instructions - this depends on the drawer’s placement in the cabinet.

The metal bracket connecting the drawer to the front can be installed in two different ways depending on where the drawer is placed. It’s important to follow the assembly instructions carefully, as the mounting differs depending on whether the drawer is placed at the bottom of the cabinet, higher up with a visible front, or installed as an inner drawer.

To ensure correct installation, refer to the appropriate page in the assembly instructions:

  • For drawers placed at the bottom of the cabinet, see page 12
  • For drawers placed higher up with a visible front, see page 6
  • For inner drawers, see page 18

Not sure where to start? Begin by locating the assembly instructions for both the drawer and the cabinet.
You’ll find them on the product page at ikea.com, under Product Information. Scroll down to the Assembly Instructions section to open or download the correct PDF.

Make sure the drawer runner is mounted in the correct row of holes in the cabinet, and that the metal bracket connecting the drawer and front is installed properly.
If the drawer is not placed at the bottom of the cabinet, the screws should be inserted into the top two holes of the bracket.
