My refrigerator is leaking water, what should I do?

If your refrigerator is leaking water, there is usually a quick solution that you can do yourself. Depending on where the water is coming from, there are different solutions to the problem.

Water is leaking from the refrigerator
Cause: The door has not been closed properly, causing condensation.

Solution: Always check that the door is closed properly. Check the seal around the refrigerator and ensure no food items are blocking the door.

There is water in the bottom drawer
Cause: The condensation channels or the drainage hole on the back wall of the refrigerator are clogged.

Solution: Regularly clean the condensation channel and drainage hole with the provided tool or a pipe cleaner or similar, so that the condensation water can drain out. The water comes from humidity that cools down and runs along the back wall. If the hole is clogged, it will overflow and run into or under the drawer.

Water is leaking from the back of the refrigerator
Cause: The condensation collector at the back of the refrigerator is full.

Solution:  If a lot of warm, humid air enters the refrigerator and it is opened frequently, the condensation will run along the back wall, through the drainage hole, and to the condensation collector. There, the water slowly evaporates by the compressor. If the refrigerator is opened unusually often, or a lot of warm food is placed inside, the container will overflow as it cannot evaporate quickly enough. Make sure not to leave the refrigerator door open for long periods and not to place warm food inside. Always check that the door is closed.
