Digital Accessibility statement
IKEA Retail (Ingka Group) - As a retail company that is committed to the mission of offering a wide range of well-designed functional home furnishing products at low prices for the many people, we are continuously enhancing the accessibility of our digital experiences, systems, and services for our diverse customer base, including those with disabilities.
We are continuously working towards improving digital accessibility, and we are doing so by implementing global standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). As a company, IKEA Retail (Ingka Group) is committed to a human-centric approach in the use of technology for the benefit of the many.
Conformance status in accordance with WCAG
WCAG provides guidance on how to make websites easier to use for people with disabilities. There are three levels of conformance and IKEA Retail (Ingka Group) aims to achieve WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
IKEA.com/se
IKEA.com/se is partially conformant to the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard. 'Partially conformant' indicates that certain parts of the content do not yet adhere to the accessibility standard.
Non-accessible content
We know from several accessibility assessments that parts of IKEA.com/se are not fully accessible.
These include, for example:
- Information conveyed visually is not always accessible to assistive technologies because text alternatives are missing or insufficient.
- Pre-recorded content does not always provide accessible alternatives.
- The structure, semantics, and reading order of the content are not always correct. Components in user interface and dynamic content are not always correctly exposed to assistive technologies.
- Adaptation of layout and input is limited.
- There are deficiencies in color, contrast, and visual presentation.
- Content on hover and focus may be difficult to perceive or manage.
- Some functionality cannot be used with a keyboard only.
- There is insufficient support for time-limited content.
- Navigation, focus, and orientation are not always consistent or logical. Keyboard focus indicators are not always visible or sufficiently clear.
- Links, headings, and labels are not always sufficiently descriptive.
- Some pointer interactions lack alternative input methods and may be difficult to cancel or undo.
- Visible labels and accessible names for components do not always match.
- Language and changes in language are not always correctly marked in the code.
- Unintended changes of context and inconsistent behavior.
- There are deficiencies in forms and error handling.
The IKEA App
The IKEA App is partially conformant to the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard. 'Partially conformant' indicates that certain parts of the content do not yet adhere to the accessibility standard.
Non-accessible content
We know from several accessibility assessments that parts of the IKEA app are not fully accessible.
These include, for example:
- Information conveyed visually is not always accessible to assistive technologies because text alternatives are missing or insufficient.
- Text cannot be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Some functionality cannot be used with a keyboard only.
- Some pointer interactions lack alternative simple input methods.
We are actively working to address these issues as part of an ongoing effort to improve the accessibility of our digital experiences, systems, and services
