At IKEA, we have learned a lot about life at home over the years, and one thing we’ve realized is that many think it’s easier to throw dirty clothes and damp towels on the floor instead of using a laundry basket. That’s why the SALUDING laundry basket, woven in a traditional Vietnamese style, has a lid with a hole. “An example of how to combine form and function – hopefully it can contribute to fewer towels on the floor but also a spa-feeling in your own home”, says Nike. When it’s time to do the laundry, you lift the lid and take out the inner bag – the laundry basket itself can stay where it is – as a decorative detail for any room.

Strong, flexible and one of the world's fastest growing plants – bamboo has many uses that make it an excellent renewable material. It’s a type of grass and usually grows without the need for fertilizers or irrigation. After being harvested, it grows new shoots that are ready for harvesting after 4-6 years. At IKEA, we use bamboo for items like furniture, bathroom decor, baskets and lamps – and we are constantly exploring more areas of use for this versatile material.
