My toddler enjoys to paintCustomerMy toddler enjoys to paint with these brushes.5
Paint My LoveAnonymous reviewerThe product was developed and brought to market by a team of true blue card-carrying members of the aurora borealis tribe. For those of us in the lowlands, with champagne dreams and beer budgets, we can only dream of the high brow aristocratic life of the leisurely pursuit of artistic endeavors. Learning to oil paint is not for the hurried and harried masses, as we retirees aim to loll and laze about the grassy knolls, waiting for divine inspiration from the higher ups. Once that cue is given, when the fat lady sings, wooden easels and French berets and Pastis are duly brought out of cold storage for some moments of al fresco instructor-led sessions in the nearby leafy and shaded public park. Juvenile entertainment and senior meditation aside, the wheelchairs and walkers and canes are carefully set aside for the time being, so that the IKEA paint brush set, perfectly priced for those on a fixed income, can work its magic. I myself am so excited to join my friends for a groupie panting, er, grouper printing, er, groper pointing, er, group painting stint. Dang AI, why I should…5

For all creative little explorers

Drawings all over the kitchen table and colored felt pens without caps. Does it sound familiar? This is definitely part of living with children, and actually something to be happy about. Painting, drawing, and crafting are in fact not just fun, but important work, and a way for your child to develop. When we created the MÅLA series, we wanted to take children’s creation very seriously and listened to the true experts: the children themselves.

We always start with the child’s perspective to understand what they really need. In this project, we found facts and inspiration in pedagogy focusing on creativity. “We realized that creativity isn’t just any play for children, they’re little researchers who use creation to understand the world around them,” says Ina Tidbeck Sjöblom who was part of creating the MÅLA series.

Made for busy artists

The team interviewed groups of children who got to try out prototypes and provide their points of view. What were their favorite colors? What did they think of the paper? “The children had very strong and sensible opinions. We also realized how they use drawing and painting gear. For example, if you’re four years old and in the middle of making a drawing, you don’t always think of putting the cap back on the felt pen. So, these pens will last up to three days without caps.” To ensure high quality at the right price, the development work was allowed to take extra time. “What children do and how they do it is super important. That’s why we considered all their feedback and made sure the products met their needs.”

Easy to get started

The MÅLA series has been around for a long time, but it keeps growing and evolving as we see new needs and get new ideas. All parts should be easy to grab and use whenever inspiration strikes. “The child shouldn’t need a parent nearby to start drawing or painting. Being able to do things on your own is an important part of development. You grow with the task.”

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.

Quality/durability

Creative genius comes in small sizes!

Paint! Cut! Draw! The MÅLA series has everything your child needs to let their imagination and creativity flow. Paint brushes with untreated wooden handles are easy to grip, scissors made to fit tiny hands, and colors that are easy to mix and wash off. No nagging your child to put the cap back on – our felt-tip pens survive a full 3 days without caps. Everything’s non-toxic, of course, because we care as much about the next generation of creative minds as you do.
