A festive Filipino home

The holidays is more than just about gift-giving. It’s about being thankful for the past year and sharing this with our loved ones. And then there was light

A little light goes a long way for any home. This holiday season, add a festive look not only to the usual outdoor settings but also indoors. Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in the evening or a serving of bibingka and puto bumbong after the Misa de Gallo with warm lighting all around the house. Create a cozy atmosphere with a set of string LED string lights for your Christmas tree and add a soft glow all over the home with LED candles and tealights. LED is one step not only towards energy saving but to take away any risk of fire from real candles.

Need not be fancy

There are more ways than one to create a festive atmosphere at home. One way is by bringing out a charcuterie board. While many people get the idea that this is a fancy treat you can serve your guest, we like to think otherwise. Create an easy spread with a couple of meat selections, some fruits, and slices of the iconic queso de bola. Make use of solid wood butcher's blocks and serve drinks all around in dishwasher-safe wine glasses and champagne glasses.

Setting a up a scene

It’s a Filipino tradition to bring out good plates for the most special occasions. However, there’s no need to keep it that way. You can also use good plates to keep the festivity going even before the celebrations begin. Keep it simple with classic shapes but add a strong crafted look to your usual plating with subtle designs through colors or texture.

Little details that matter

Setting up the table for the upcoming holidays can be a challenge. Don’t underestimate the power of a good table setting with tiny details that make it truly fun to dine with. Interesting additions to the table can also be functional such as a colorful set of paper napkins, folded with a complete set of cutleries. Don’t forget to leave a stack for your guests to use with ornamental napkin holders.

Warm, fuzzy feeling

Whether you’re accepting guests or having an intimate celebration, a Filipino home is never complete without a fresh set of cushion covers. Spice up your sofa with a set of textured cushion covers for a fresh take on solid colors. Add a little bit of character to your cushions in line with a festive holiday theme by injecting subtle patterns.
