What is IKEA's Democratic Design?
Democratic Design is our approach for designing, developing and evaluating IKEA home furnishing products.
Every IKEA product has a story to tell, and every good story starts with a great idea: making everyday life at home better.
To understand people’s needs and dreams, we conduct thousands of home visits every year. What we learn inspires the starting point for every product we design.
We strive to bring together five dimensions in every product:
- Form — beautiful design
- Function — practical solutions for everyday life
- Low price — affordability for more people
- Sustainability — a more thoughtful use of resources
- Quality — products made to last
