How to design your perfect PAX wardrobe

There are many ready-made PAX combinations to choose from. Or, you can design your ideal PAX wardrobe with the size, look, colour and specification that’s perfect for your room, as well as for your storage needs.

1. Choose the frames

You first need to measure the space you have – from floor to ceiling and from wall to wall. Available frame heights are 201 cm and 236 cm.  Widths are 50 cm, 75 cm or 100 cm and the depth is either 35 cm or 58 cm. You can choose between four colours of PAX frame - white, grey, grey-beige, white stained oak effect.

Tip! Be sure to allow an extra height clearance of 4 cm if you're building your PAX upright. If you are building your PAX on the floor, you require 10cm height clearance.

2. Choose doors, knobs and handles

To match the frames, you can choose between a variety of hinged doors (25 cm or 50 cm wide) or pairs of soft-closing sliding doors (150 cm or 200 cm wide). Of course, you can skip the doors entirely if you want an open wardrobe. Knobs or handles complete your hinged doors and you can easily replace them when you want to refresh the look.

3. Design your layout- organise with clothes rails, drawers and shelves

Here’s where our KOMPLEMENT interior organisers do their magic. Since bigger clothes and shoes take up most space, choose a mix of KOMPLEMENT clothes rails, shelves and drawers for these first. Dresses, shirts, trousers and coats hang happily on clothes rails, while tops, jeans and jumpers and other things that like to be folded are easily stored on shelves and in drawers. Add mesh baskets to give your clothes better ventilation, and shoe shelves if you need them.

4. Find space for smaller accessories

Whether you are storing belts, sunglasses, jewellery, scarves, watches, hair accessories or ties, KOMPLEMENT tray inserts and dividers come with different sizes and styles of compartments to help give everything breathing space. Other organisers for smaller accessories include boxes of varying sizes which are perfect for storing small clothing like vests and underwear. Work out what your accessories need to get an idea of the best small organisers to choose.

5. Choose interior lighting

With lighting for your PAX wardrobe, you can add the finishing touch and make your clothes easier to see. There are lighting options that you can control with IKEA Home smart, as well as sensor lights that operate automatically when you open or close the door.
