Reviews

Great productAnonymous reviewerWowsa!5
Great microwaveAnonymous reviewerThis is a great microwave and I have very high praise for it. All the functions, Steam defrost microwave perform perfectly once understood. A particularly like the memory feature that I use for my porridge in the morning. The only grumble that I have is the buttons can sometimes get stuck underneath the face panel if pressed along the edge which create fault requiring a reset. The main corporate for this is the door open button.4
Not recommended - loses its finishAnonymous reviewerSteam from cooking gets directed out the front of the microwave and damages the stainless steel finish over time, leaving permanent discolouration and streaky lines. Looks bad after a couple of years. Definitely not what you expect from a microwave at this price!1
Love it! Anonymous reviewerHeats the food much quicker than my old microwave! Looks great!5
An Expensive MistakeAnonymous reviewerBefore purchasing I would like to have known that the microwave would be packaged in just two pieces of foam and some shrink wrap; that it would be incredibly noisy and unreliable; that unpackaged returns are not accepted (the packaging is impossible to reuse unless you have an industrial shrink wrap machine) ; that upon returning the faulty microwave to the Warrington store it would be 'tested' and declared perfect; that my subsequent complaint to Ikea CS would be ignored; that I would be wasting my money and need to buy a replacement that I and my family can live with.1
Don’t buy this microwaveAnonymous reviewerDon’t but this microwave less than 20 months and the covering under the turntable is peeling off, been in contact with Electrolux and ikea neither want anything to do with it both saying it’s the other one to sort. It’s not a cheap microwave and certainly don’t expect these issues with a 5 year guarantee absolutely ridiculous1
Sleek and simpleAnonymous reviewerWhen our fitted microwave failed, we were shocked at how much it would cost to replace - the branded ones in the right size were around £500. But saving money buying from Ikea definitely wasn't a compromise. It's really user-friendly, looks great with our other AEG appliances and it's got a decent warranty. The free steamer bowl is a nice touch - I use the lid all the time on bowls so things don't splatter as I hear them.5
good valueAnonymous reviewerlooks nice & works fine & it comes with a steamer bowl.5
Works fine, a bit expensiveAnonymous reviewerLooks good and works as expected, but a bit expensive3
Very basic and expensive microwaveAnonymous reviewerVery expensive microwave. Basic appliance. Nothing special. Overpriced.2
Good looking MicrowaveAnonymous reviewerWe bought this microwave along with the MATALSKARE oven. Firstly, they look good in the kitchen. The style and colour would enhance any kitchen and can’t fault the performance. The only downside, and this is trivial, is that the metal opener at the top of the unit, when pressing in, catches my nail, scraping the surface of nail polish. I have to use a piece of dowel.5
Wheres the power gone?Anonymous reviewerI do like the size, and ease of use of this built in microwave but am sadly disappointed that it only has 750 W power. I would have preferred one with a variable power and a higher power as this is what is often stated on microwaveable foods and so it has to be used for a longer time3
Excellent microwaveAnonymous reviewerExcellent microwave very happy with its performance well done ikea5
Very disappointingAnonymous reviewerOf all the items in our wonderful IKEA kitchen this is the most disappointing. For the price it is tiny, smaller than our old £100 standalone microwave. The controls are not intuitive and I have to keep the handbook close by. But the worst thing is the repeating beep. When it finishes it gives two bleeps every few seconds until you turn it off (or possibly smash it with a hammer). If anyone can tall me how to mute the bleep I will increase the star rating!2
look goodAnonymous reviewereasy to use works well love it5

Kitchen appliances for the many

How can we best assist you in your cooking, without actually being in the kitchen? One way, is to make high quality appliances at prices that leave more money left for good ingredients. To make this happen, we’re working together with carefully selected suppliers – experts we feel are the best in their field at delivering what people need in their everyday. This allows us to offer fully equipped, functional kitchens, with appliances and all the other things you need, all in one place.

Creating good things becomes a whole lot easier when you work together. And when you do it with a good amount of trust and understanding, it becomes fun and interesting.

Aha-moments during the development

Bruno Lizotte, who works with product development at IKEA of Sweden in Älmhult, tells that the development of the kitchen appliances is done hand in hand together with the suppliers. “We have a lot of experience from life at home so we share our ideas and our knowledge to get the suppliers to see things from our perspective. Then we find solutions together to improve the life in and around the kitchen,” he says. In turn, the suppliers contribute with their expertise, for example hard facts on materials, technical solutions and innovations they have in the pipeline. “By being generous we learn from each other. It’s a way to challenge old truths about how things are supposed to be done. It usually leads to a couple of aha-moments for everyone involved,” notes Bruno.

Knowledge through home visits

Some of the knowledge that’s shared comes from IKEA home visits. It’s a method to see how people in different cultures live and manage with some of life’s ups and downs in their own homes. For example, we ask; what do you do in the kitchen, except cooking? How do you use the space? Do you have friends over? What would you like to improve? What are your hopes, dreams and wishes? “The insights we get from the visits are transferred to the people we work with so we can develop better products together, and create an easier life at home,” says Bruno.

Easier days in the heart of the home

Good kitchen appliances should fit with the rest of the kitchen and with the people who use them. We all have different needs, tastes and wallets. Some of us cook because we love to, some of us because we have to. That’s why a considerable amount of time in the development process is spent on creating a selection of durable products – in different styles, functions and price levels. And always with quality as the main focus. It means a whole deal of fine-tuning, trying ideas and choosing the ones that make most use for people. “Togetherness and enthusiasm are important words to us when we develop products. In short, it means to work with people that believe in the same cause as we do, but also to respect each other’s efforts. When we manage to live up to that, we can make a true difference and contribute to a better life at home for more people. That’s really something to aim for,” says Bruno.
