Poor QualityAnonymous reviewerQuality of product has got a lot worse, and now is terrible. I purchased a Markus around 6 years ago, and the quality then was fair, the base seat padding got quite flat after 3 years, but the chair was fine, and the padding is still ok now, only really starting to hurt after 3-4 hours of use.
I purchased another Markus last month, and the padding is a joke. Used it for two days a week for the last month, and the padding is already completely flat; I am now sitting on the metal base. My old Markus never had this issue, and it is clear they have cut costs here. I am going to be asking to return the chair, and until Ikea improve the quality of the base again, I suggest you do not buy this chair.
At the end of the day how can the seat padding of an "office chair" already be flat in under a month, with light use.1
Almost perfectAnonymous reviewerI tried this in my local store before buying and found it the most comfortable and supportive of all the office chairs. It also has a non-sweaty fabric seat. It's probably just about 10mm too short in the seat depth but I'm hoping the back will give a little over time and allow me to sit just that bit further back. The only disappointment is the arm rests which I've had to remove because they're too high to slide under my Micke desk. It's just a pity the chair doesn't come with some black caps or fabric patches to cover the bolt holes if you don't fix the arm rests.4
Not ergonomic at allAnonymous reviewerI bought this a few years ago. After about 1 years of usage, I had to get a new one since I had such sever lower back pain. Chair lumber support is not adjustable at all. I wish I knew that I could have returned it after assembly.1
WheelsAnonymous reviewerAfter 1 and half year of this chair, the wheels started acting up and dislocating.. Very cheap manufacturing and overall uncomfy2
Uncomfortable and stiffAnonymous reviewerThe arm rests are absolutely horrible. I should have known better to have bought a chair without adjustable arm rests. They're too low and even when you lower your arms to rest on them naaturally they're deeply uncomfortable.
The cushioning for the chair is pretty meh as well. Sitting on it after a while gets uncomfortable.
The back of the chair is too stiff and awkward. I feel the lumbar support design is incorrect. It's too low making it uncomfortable on my back and hard to actually sit in a correct posture without over-adjusting and making myself even more uncomfortable.2
Ergonomic notAnonymous reviewerIkea's best effort chair is invariably a bad chair.
Lumbar support cannot be adjusted in height or depth.
Oversized height non-adjustable armrests.
Creaky, rocky and next to no padding you can feel hard wood underneath.
Just posting as warning to all. You'll end up removing armrest and then looking for ways to remove the so called lumber support that will wreck your back.
Dining chair, or just a chair but remove the "office" chair part of it.
Ergonomic means:
- Lumber adjustable height and depth
- Seat depth
- Adjustable headrest
- Adjustable 4D armrests
There are £150 office chairs on Amazon that are more ergonomic like Protoarc EC200
Go Herman Miller, Steelcase etc drop a grand on those chairs and it's lifetime. You won't regret it.1
GoodAnonymous reviewerGreat chair for price, good for taller person5
Excellent, very supportive! Would recommendAnonymous reviewerI've had this chair for 2 years now and I think it's fantastic. The back is very supportive. The curve at the bottom really hugs your lower back. And the high back makes it supportive for your upper back and head too. The seat is still comfortable and I haven't needed to add a cushion after 2 years. The angle of the back is adjustable as well as the height. I would 100% recommend this chair.5
Poor quality and paddingAnonymous reviewerThe seat padding is really thin, and after less than a year of use got squashed and is very firm; I can feel the bolts holding the base now2
Great product. Would recommend.Anonymous reviewerVery comfortable, solid, roomy and supportive home office chair. Easy to assemble, very sturdy with adjustable height.
Mid range price and worth paying the extra for such a great chair. Would recommend. 5*5
Nice chair but more suitedAnonymous reviewerNice chair more suited for a teenage smaller person found quite tight had to send back no problem returning it but as it was still assembled could only get gift card4
comfortable enough but narrow seat and lack of back support and has a plastic baseAnonymous reviewercomfortable but I have wide hips so the armrests occasionally dug into them depending how I sat, and the plastic base broke roughly 8 months after I purchased it1
Comfortable Office ChairAnonymous reviewerEasy to assemble, with clear instructions.
Height and tilt controls are easy to adjust.
The chair is very comfortable.5
