The ladder also serves as a guard rail for the bunk bed – because children’s beds should be safe places, no matter if you are in the middle of play or deep in the world of dreams. That is why our children’s beds undergo rigorous furniture tests. The industry’s safety standards are very strict, but we take it further. When working with TUFFING, we focused especially on avoiding gaps and openings where small hands and feet can easily get stuck. When we had a model of the bed, it underwent two weeks of intense fatigue tests where the bed frame was continuously exposed to strong forces.

Only downside was that it was the most difficult thing I have ever put together. I normally love building flat pack furniture but this was a nightmare. Sturdy, but horrendous buildAnonymous reviewerRequired for assembly - screwdriver, Allen key (provided), and a divorce lawyer. Nothing is labelled. The instructions may aswell be dipped in the bath first for all the sense they make and you will need the patience of seven saints to push through the task of building this.
Took four hours from start to finish. The mesh at step one (yes step one!!) was ripped just trying to get the first screw in and there was many more to come.
This is pure guess work. It's very solid when assembled but for the pure aggravation alone would not recommend. The Mr builds hospital beds for a living for context and could do that blindfolded but this, this is a job for NASA.

reviews are trueAnonymous reviewerfirst - assembly. it took a professional elite assembler just over 2 hours, and he said he already installed 6 of these in his life. therefore assembly it's an absolute pain. so glad I paid for assembly so I didn't have to go through what these people here have. once assembled by professional it looks good and pretty sturdy but not as sturdy as expected by me. it's very cheap bed, but if you add assembly, delivery, mattress etc. it works out quite at a price. my son is over the moon with it, however I will in the future go for something easier to assembled/ disassemble.

Solid Bed but absolute headache to assembleAnonymous reviewerRead the other reviews regarding the nightmare assembly and thought it couldn't possibly be that bad. Oh how I was wrong. This took several hours to assemble with lots of choice words and I'm extremely savvy with DIY. This has to be the top worst IKEA furniture to assemble. It is the ultimate "Divorce maker". The mesh is an absolute nightmare as it covers almost all the screw holes as others have said. Once built up though, it does look fantastic, it's really solid and creates tons of space and I like the fact the slats are metal as my kids seem to easily destroy the wooden ones.
Stand the test of time!Anonymous reviewerWe bought two of these bunks - one for each of our boys. They were about 3 and 5 years old when we bought them and they are now being replaced after almost 10 years. I'm going to freecycle the bunks because they are still in great condition - the paint isn't chipped or scratched anywhere. Fantastic value for money and the kids loved them. Hopefully someone else will get as much use from them as we already have.
I would agree with the comments about the slats and resolving the issue with some ply or other wood - but, for us at least, this wasn't an issue until the boys were much older. There are also choices of using thicker mattresses (but you need to be aware of the mattress depth versus the guardrail height - if you have little ones and the mattress is too deep then they might be able to roll over the guard rail).

Great valueAnonymous reviewerWe purchased these beds for two teen boys sharing a box room and the frame itself is very good and sturdy. We had read the reviews regarding the metal slats and that they were uncomfortable for some, so bought some sheets of MDF to go ontop of slats and it worked perfectly. Beds are now comfortable and only reason i didn't give a 5 star was having to buy the MDF. Great bunk for the money.

A bed for new perspectives
Life is pretty good here at the top of the bed. Teasing younger siblings can be kept at a distance, and when mum or dad says good night, the height is just perfect for a hug. Both bunk beds and loft beds are good choices when you want to create more space in a smaller area. With TUFFING, we also managed to make more bed from less material.
We made TUFFING bunk bed and loft bed of stable steel and mesh fabric, and somewhat lower than other bunk beds. It means less use of material and that each bed weighs less to transport.
