Product details

This sensor checks the air quality by monitoring harmful particles (PM2.5), temperature, relative humidity and total Volatile Organic Compounds (tVOC) in your home.

Place it in the living room, bedroom or other rooms where you spend a lot of time. With its small size, you can easily move it from room to room so you can rest assured that the air quality is good.

Upgrade your STARKVIND air purifier(s) by adding this sensor that offers more precise air quality measurements and can be placed in a central location in the room, away from the purifier.

By keeping an eye on things as harmful particles, temperature, humidity and volatile organic compounds you can affect the air quality at home and also help prevent for example mold and mildew growth.

The arrow shows if the level of tVOC is increasing, decreasing or is stable. tVOC stands for total volatile organic compounds from, for example, paint, cooking or cleaning and household products.

By connecting this product to DIRIGERA hub, you can see the air quality in the IKEA Home smart app. We make continuous updates so that the sensor and the app only get better and better over time.

With a smart home from IKEA, it's easy to create smarter everyday moments with lighting, speakers, blinds and air quality products.

Good to know

Activities in the home like cooking and using an open fireplace and sprays can release harmful PM2.5 particles. They can also seep in from polluted outdoor air.

PM2.5 are small inhalable particles, that measure 0.1-2.5 micrometres.

This product is part of our smart home range. Connect it, along with other smart products, to DIRIGERA hub and IKEA Home smart app for more features and functions, that you can control from anywhere, not just when you're at home.

This smart product cannot be connected to a TRÅDFRI gateway.

USB power adapter sold separately.

Works Well with some caveatsAnonymous reviewerThis works well but has some limitations in how often it updates. It's a shame about the temperature sensor too. I wouldn't have bought it had I of known. I've also got it hooked up to Home Assistant via ZBT-1 which works with some caveats. I didn't realise this when I bought it, but the temperature only measures in whole units, not decimals (even .5 would have been nice). Entities are not updated very often, but you can force it with an automation. The tvoc value can be accessed with some tinkering too. It acts as a ZigBee router.3
Excellent product Anonymous reviewerSmall and very useful. 5
Great additionAnonymous reviewerGives automated sensor driven control to the air filter table5
Needs Yet Another HubAnonymous reviewerI swear I have as many smart hubs as actual smart sensors. It’s fine plugged in, with its wee screen, but it’s not that smart unless you purchase another hub. SIGH3
BargainAnonymous reviewerVery useful. Connects easily to Zigbee and provides a good Zigbee router that will extend your network. Zigbee takes it into Home Assistant where you can do just about anything you want with the readings including seeing decimal places. At this price point accuracy is “good enough”, if you want scientific accuracy, look at much more expensive calibrated scientific instruments. I use several of these little things for triggering air filters, extractor fans etc. Given the built in router and the range of measurements, they are a bargain.4
Humidity reading inaccurateAnonymous reviewerLike others have observed the humidity reading is high by about 8-10% relative to 3 different humidity meters that agree with each other to within 3-4%. These are at a humidity of 40%. Temperature reading is accurate. 2.5PM measurement - no way of telling. 4
Vague and inaccurateAnonymous reviewerwith a few days of use and monitoring, this has been an ok air quality monitor. It feels alittle overpriced since the humidity seems to be 8-10% inaccurate than what it actually is and the zigbee could be more compatible with other hubs for readings such as pm2.5 count, which is nice, or even tVOC readings. The tVOC arrows are incredibly vague and don't show any real useful information regarding this. It only tells you if theyre on the rise, stable or lowering. I will probably return this item.2
Should also have Co2 monitor and historic dataAnonymous reviewerI hoped it would also have a Co2 levels measurement. Please also add historic data3
Inaccurate humidity readingAnonymous reviewerI bought two of these and I really wanted to like them as they are a handy way of extending my zigbee network. However the humidity reading is consistently 8-10% higher than the three other different brands of meter I have. 2
Great but needs more info in the appAnonymous reviewerI really like this air sensor. It has uncovered a humidity issue in my flat I wasn’t aware of. Though I was surprised to see that you can only see the current temp/humidity/pollution in the app, no history. I was hoping to keep an eye on temperature overnight in my daughter’s bedroom but I can only see the current data. IKEA, please add data history to the app!4
Great little productAnonymous reviewerAccurate, not sure why the other reviewer was complaining? Small, doesn't look like a secret recording device like the Alexa equivalent, I have one in the spare bedroom so this is important as I don't have to explain what it is! I don't use the Ikea hub but rather use it with Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT and this is supported there so I can trigger other automations. USB C connection which is great and quiet in operation. I am considering the air purifer but need to visit and Ikea rather than buy online so I can see it in the flesh. It would be great if you could control the backlight remotely then an automation could switch this on during the day and turn it off at night, also the pairing button would be better on the bottom of the product where it can't be messed with.5
Sensible air quality sensorAnonymous reviewerHoping to hack it and add a WiFi controller so the data can be accessed centrally5
Accuracy an issue.Anonymous reviewerThe accuracy is very poor for temperature and relative humidity readings. Why does the temperature not go to a decimal place? It is interesting that IKEA do not mention the accuracy of this product.2
No hassle air quality monitor.Anonymous reviewerNo hassle air quality monitor. Also supports zigbee.5
