A loft bed is perfect when you need to combine several functions on a small surface. This one has passed the same tough safety tests as all our other loft beds. It’s just a little lower – and cheaper.

Product details

Children need space in their room to play and do homework – and sleep, of course. With a loft bed you can solve all of this in an area of just 2 m2.

You can use the space under the bed for storage, a workspace or seating.

A good solution where space is limited.

Reviews

Great bedAnonymous reviewerI ordered 3 of these beds for 1 room for space saving it was this or argos but I likes the look of this one! I was not sure because of the reviews ( I've put stuff together before wardrobes ect) I'm glad to say it all went super well and I'm not sure what others were doing! If you follow the instructions and do not tighten anything up until it says to then it it should work OK I'm assuming people are tightening everything before it says! I started at 10am and finished at 115 with only help from a 5 and 6 year old to hold the bed while wobbling as not done up but I guess you could prop it up! And I didn't put it on its side for the bed part it can be done! I'm a 43 year old female and 5ft 2! Go for it you can do it x Just a triple bunk to take apart then the other 2 to do5
Worst Build Ever - I do mean everAnonymous reviewerAs a seasoned Ikeaist, wardrobe builder extraordinaire, bed builder supreme & all round Swedish 🇸🇪 furniture fan, I feel qualified to say this is the worst Ikea product Ive ever built. The whole mesh, knitting needle threading, macrame mattress support thing is staggeringly bad. I want to see the video of the Ikea guys all sat round laughing when it was signed off. My personal favourite it when you have to tip it onto its edge to attach the mattress support section. To give you some idea just how bad it is, I arrived at my daughters at 2pm. By 2.15pm I had disassembled her old double bed. By 2.45 I had disassembled a bed from then next room & reassembled it. Quick coffee & on to the loft bed. Just finished at 6.30pm. Nearly divorced & feeling a little traumatised. In summary I’d give it a miss.2
Great product, difficult to assemble Anonymous reviewerThis is a great bed when you have finally built it. It took 3 hours and that was with people very adept at building furniture. The issue was all down to the netting and the way it fits. Very shocked for an IKEA product to be so difficult to assemble. Also purchased the bunk beds which were almost sent back due to the dread of building them and the dreaded netting. Having said all that I am pleased with the quality of the bed and it’s great for saving space. 4
Excellent Anonymous reviewerMade so much more room in my grandsons room 5
Not the simplest build.Anonymous reviewerWe bought this bed to help maximise space in our smallest bedroom which unfortunately meant that we struggled for space when putting it together in situ, due to the need to lay the bed down to fit the mattress supports. The side netting was a bit of hassle to get in place aswell with not much play. Also, be sure not to over tighten the two part screw fixing before the build is complete as the two sides can come apart when unscrewing. This being said, once up the bed looks the part, feels sturdy and does the job all for not a lot of money. 3
GreatAnonymous reviewerReally don’t see why there’s a problem building this, two of us and it was up, instructions easy enough to follow, all was good and sturdy 5
Nice bed but it squeaks a lot Anonymous reviewerThe bed is wealth the money however it squeaks a lot when child is moving around I have tightened the bolts but it didn’t resolve the problem. 3
A good loft bedAnonymous reviewerVery pleased with the result, a sturdy construction. It was tricky putting in the screws to avoid the material,I used a screwdriver to push it out of the way. Because we could not tilt the bed to fit the base, I put hooks over the top bar and suspended the base in place with bits of string, so I could fasten the screws/bolts and used a ladder to reach them. 5
6 hours to built and still not right Anonymous reviewerYou have to have plenty of space to built this bed, you should try to do it in a box room as we did as you’re supposed to lay it down at one point and then stand it back up again which makes it a nightmare to assemble needing three of you to get the bed base in place. One of the sides doesn’t stay in place either. 2
Hours of my life I can’t have backAnonymous reviewerI’ve put together countless ikea products over the years and have always found the instructions to be faultless… until today. The instructions are vague and it’s very easy to make a mistake and have to go back and correct it. Don’t get me started on the bed base, all the bars have to be threaded through a mesh with supports and it needs ALOT of space to do this. And then practically impossible to bolt to the bed frame due to layers of mesh and needing to stretch it into place. It was a miracle that the only thing that didn’t need to be assembled was the ladder. 5hrs spent when 2 should have been plenty. If you fancy an endurance challenge that will test you to extremes, buy this bed… if not, walk away… quickly Bed looks nice when completed though!1
Great bed but need patience Anonymous reviewerPut this together with my teenage son. Was pretty easy just needed patience when it came to the bed slat bit as not much room to lay it down. Does the job at a great price. 5
Nightmare to assemble - need ALOT of space to build!Anonymous reviewerI've bought a lot of furniture from IKEA & have never had a problem building it... until this! 2m of us building it took 3.5 hours. Its supposed to be a space saving bed, but you have to build the main frame, then TIP THE WHOLE THING ON ITS SIDE in a tiny room to get the slats on - I had to wedge between the bed & the wall, twisting badly to try to get this bit done, which turned out to be the worst bit! The mesh has holes in for the screws, but it stretches/moves about too much, so trying to line the slat ends (which are all on their end at this point), with the hole in the bed frame & the mesh hole to screw them in was virtually impossible & this was the point I nearly gave up & really lost my faith in IKEA furniture!! Once completed, I realised I hadn't threaded the front 2 upright poles through the mesh, but to fix, I need to dismantle a lot of the steps, which I just couldn't face, so have left it (it is still safe). Also, the orange feet don't fit the ladder. Ok once built.2
Look great But…Anonymous reviewerI bought 2 of these beds for my sons so they could have a gaming set up underneath & their own space. They look great in there room for what they are but they are an absolute nightmare to build! If you buy these make sure you’ve got plenty of time to build them as we did one of them & it took us near enough all day. The instructions aren’t the best to workout at times. The netting is a pain to put on too in places. However, once they are up the best are great for what we wanted them for & definitely do the job. The only down side I find is the metal bars underneath to hold the mattress need to be closer together & there needs to be more of them. 4
Space saving but not very easy to installAnonymous reviewerAs described, it maximises the space in the small bed room, but it wasn’t east to assemble the top part with the fabric5
squeaky!Anonymous reviewerToo much flex when assembling. Squeaky and needs re tightening quite a lot!3
Great Value Bed Anonymous reviewerBuilt this with my 13 year old son, instructions clear and easy to follow, netting wasn't difficult at all if youre careful and arent rushing was just the tipping of the bed once built to height to screw in the base that was the issue with the space we had. Will be building another two shortly but maybe give it a month to figure out how to build in the smaller room...its a great value bed. 5
IKEAs logic effectively removes your guaranteeAnonymous reviewerBought the bed and built it. Admittedly took a while but was successful. Instructions were good and it was sturdy. So far so good !………..Needed to be dismantled and moved 6 weeks later. Followed retained instructions in reverse. During the process it became apparent that a number of bolts were bent , meaning they could no longer be threaded. The bed cannot not be rebuilt safely. !!!………Ikeas response ……THEY deem the product to have no issues therefore YOU have caused the problem as assembled/disassembled it and therefore no refund or recourse….HOW ABOUT IF IT IS MOVED WHEN ASSEMBLED? …… reality is, it is a design fault, the bolts holding the majority of the bed together are 2 piece, placing most stress on the narrow thread…….SUMMARY.a decent product for the price if you only ever build it once but I learned far more about Ikeas customer service in the process. Guarantees are pretty useless, no refund unless item still boxed. You cannot email IKEA. THANK GOD I DIDNT BUY A KITCHEN £££££2
Wouldn’t botherAnonymous reviewerI wouldn’t bother even buying this, absolute nightmare to put together, pieces damaged and the mesh is ridiculous. Doesn’t come with wall attachments as described. Standard single mattress doesn’t fit and if you don’t have the base mesh on you will fall through the bed and it also doesn’t hold anywhere near the amount of weight advertised, I’m 59kg and it’s very shaky with me on. Very poor design and I can’t even get my money back on what is now basically scrap1
Nightmare to assembly !!!Anonymous reviewerNightmare to assembly !!!1
Tuffing loft bed x2Anonymous reviewerWe have purchased and built 2 of these loft beds and the only difficult part to assemble was the netting but once that was done the beds look great up ! So much space underneath, easy clean bed for £149 I cannot complain. Just would like to find the desk to go underneath ? Any suggestions IKEA ?5

TUFFING Loft bed frame, dark grey, 90x200 cm

A bed for new perspectives

Life is pretty good here at the top of the bed. Teasing younger siblings can be kept at a distance, and when mum or dad says good night, the height is just perfect for a hug. Both bunk beds and loft beds are good choices when you want to create more space in a smaller area. With TUFFING, we also managed to make more bed from less material.

We made TUFFING bunk bed and loft bed of stable steel and mesh fabric, and somewhat lower than other bunk beds. It means less use of material and that each bed weighs less to transport.

Kids don’t think about safety, so we do

By centering the ladder, the loft bed became more stable. The ladder also serves as a guard rail for the bunk bed – because children’s beds should be safe places, no matter if you are in the middle of play or deep in the world of dreams. That is why our children’s beds undergo rigorous furniture tests. The industry’s safety standards are very strict, but we take it further. When working with TUFFING, we focused especially on avoiding gaps and openings where small hands and feet can easily get stuck. When we had a model of the bed, it underwent two weeks of intense fatigue tests where the bed frame was continuously exposed to strong forces.

A place for kids to recharge

Throughout the design process we took part in research results from Dr Barbie Clarke, a child psychologist with many years of experience in research about children and their development. She explains the role of the bed: “When we do global research, the children we interview often say that their bed is their favourite part of the home. It is something they can call their own; ‘This is mine, my space’. Even if they share a lot of other things, the bed is often a private area that helps them work out who they are, rest and recharge.”

Material

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
