Not bad but a design flaw should be addressed.Anonymous reviewerI bought this to use directly with an IKEA remote control. Pairing is easy. It can work well with the remote control but has been hit and miss as 1 of 2 bulbs I bought didn’t always respond. An alternative version with greater power output / lumens would be good. This bulb has the same problem as other smart bulbs if switched off with a remote control, then power is withdrawn (wall socket, power cut etc.) - as soon as power is restored, the bulb lights up regardless of the remote control. This can be referred to as “default power state”. It can be controlled if the bulb is continuously connected to a hub & app but that’s a lot of money for 1 light bulb to work properly. The bulb can remember other settings so should be able to remember its last power state. Another star could be awarded if this is resolved. If you already use a hub or intend to start, website advice “Must be completed with the STYRBAR remote control” is misleading as the bulb can be fully controlled via a hub & app.3
Smart features great, bulbs themselves mehAnonymous reviewerThe smart aspects of these bulbs are great. They pair super easily, the reliability (over the course of the last 8 months or so of use) has been perfect. The only issue I've had is you can't control white spectrum via HomeKit, I can't ask Siri to make it warmer or cooler - you have to say obscure colour names (e.g. sandstone, 40W Tungsten, snow).
I'm using these as ceiling lights and unfortunately, the bulbs themselves aren't great.
The light output is bad. 345 lumen is pretty dim, and it's not even 345 lumen most of the time. In order to reach peak brightness you need to set the colour temperature pretty warm. But I either want peak brightness at neutral-to-cool temperature during midday (for daylight effect), or low brightness at warm temperatures in the evening. For some reason these bulbs are tuned such that the peak brightness is warm not neutral, which doesn't make sense to me.
The beam angle is also narrow.
They're probably good for spotlight applications, but not ceiling.3
Bright and controllable Anonymous reviewerThese bulbs fit perfectly into the nobrand existing holders, other led GU10 bulbs were to large to fit properly and flush with the holder they also give full control of the lighting situation. 5
Loses connection with Philips Hue hub dailyAnonymous reviewerPurchased 25 lights and connected to Philips Hue hub with no issues. However the lights become unresponsive at least once a day. A quick power cycle resolves this, but it’s very frustrating having to do this. We purchased 6 of the same bulbs a few years ago and they still work with zero issues. Why do newer ones do this?
There are numerous posts online from other users who experience the exact same issue and yet Ikea’s website states they are compatible with the Philips Hue hub.2
Working well so far with a few downsides (no HomeKit adaptive lighting)Anonymous reviewerCheap equivalent to Hue White Ambiance bulbs that paired easily enough!. Sure it doesn't immediately go into pairing mode when first powered on like a Hue bulb, but it has the slick fade on and off. Unfortunately, there is no support for HomeKit adaptive lighting, which is disappointing, as this could be easily implemented; if bridges such as Homebridge and Home Assistant can make it happen, let it happen directly please! I am using it with a Hue Dimmer Switch (v2) via the Dirigera bridge and it is working well. The pricing is brilliant, that is for certain. 4
Good but annoying.Anonymous reviewerI bought this GU10 bulb & the STYRBAR remote control to give me a flexible desk light instead of so many that have non-replaceable LEDs & can’t be repaired.
It works fine with the remote control & the white light output is brighter than on the colour version. Paring can be fiddly. Using the bulb in the NymFåne light means the remote control will only pair if pointed at the front of the bulb or only on one side of the light fitting.
When switching off at the wall, it stays paired & the last brightness & light temperature settings used are remembered.
I am only giving it 3 stars as the following is a bit annoying :
When switched off with the remote control then at the wall socket, in turning power back on the light comes on straight away. On the internet this seems to be a frustration for various light bulbs & you need a gateway/hub to change the bulb’s “behaviour”; a lot of expense for 1 bulb. The initial default needs to be changed or can changed via an IKEA remote control.3
Amazing for the costAnonymous reviewerWireless control including dimming, white colour at a cost that isn't much more than a standard bulb.5
Stupid lightAnonymous reviewerI thought it’s gonna be a smart thing to have at home with my spotlight ceiling light. However, it is just so dumb and takes ages to connect if you’re lucky enough! I thought it’s a battery issue so I bought new ones but it’s the same.
Such a waste of money. I don’t recommend at all!!1
