Flimsy and waste of moneyAnonymous reviewerThe inner holder just won't click. I had to glue it together for the stand to hold.
Really poor qualityAnonymous reviewerPurchased this on 16/7 and went to assemble over weekend. Despite being really careful and trying to avoid the issues raised in other reviews, the small plastic retaining clips on the base are not sufficient to hold the lamp together and the very first clip broke when applying a small amount of pressure.
Really unsatisfactory
Called the customer service team today and they advised have to return to store. Hardly convenient as it 40 mins each way.
Buy this lamp with caution and in my experience, the reviews do not lie.
AwfulAnonymous reviewerThis lamp is terrible to assemble. The parts do not click into place as described in the leaflet, merely fit into each other in an awful flimsy way. I have tried to put it up and as soon as the paper shade is all the way up, the tension makes the internal structure fall apart. If I could give it 0 stars I would. The Holmö floor lamp was great - bring it back!
Utterly infuriating, least favourite Ikea itemAnonymous reviewerI love a paper lantern floor lamp. The Vickleby is now retired and I couldn't source a replacement shade - I bought the Strandad. No. Just No.
Why? It's stunted - Vickleby was bold and blooming; Strandad is constrained and undersized. The base uses flimsy plastic clips to join three spokes, and one snapped instantly. Returning an IKEA item online, is apparently impossible. So I glued it. The stand is a stack of 10cm "tubes" that sort of connect - but mishandle it and it collapses.
Around the lightbulb sits a pointy metal cage that threatens to tear the shade and never quite clicks together. Worst of all, Vickleby's clever and attractive spring is gone, replaced by a cheap, fussy plastic widget that rattles. Nothing good rattles. This is the opposite of everything I like about good design. Don't buy it and save your sanity.
Poorly madeAnonymous reviewerIts super finicky and hard to put together. I had to use tape to keep the metal parts inside together because they do not fit into the holes and would fall apart while trying to put it together. It would have been impossible to assemble without the tape. At the end the whole product wouldn't sit straight. It was the kind of end result where you dont even want to breathe near it because it would probaly all collapse if you did. A complete waste of the worlds resources.
Great value Anonymous reviewerGreat value, putting it together is a little fiddly but not that bad. Feels light and plasticky but looks pretty good.
Hard to assemble Anonymous reviewerVery hard to assemble as many parts just bearly stey in place and very easy to demage pepper cover when trying to stretch. I have a necked lamp now and it will do job till I find something better.
Budget friendlyAnonymous reviewerWorks really well for the price. Thought it seemed a bit flimsy to start with but once everything’s in place it’s surprisingly sturdy. Just be careful when trying to push the shade in to the grooves and you shouldn’t have any problems. Well worth the money.

Waste of moneyAnonymous reviewerBought 2 at the weekend to replace ones that had ripped shades, neither of the new ones made it through construction! The first one the paper shade ripped when trying to attach to the bottom of the stand, and the second one the middle bit where the bulb goes broke when trying to “click”

Waste of moneyAnonymous reviewerI realise it's extremely cheap, so I can't complain too much but I bought three of these and only one has been successfully assembled. The others are completely non-functional mainly due to a spring issue at the top. The one I managed to assemble looks very pretty and has the light I wanted. Although it's pretty insubstantial considering I effectively paid £27 for one working lamp.
