PerfectAnonymous reviewerJust perfect , very pleased with it .5
Great once done- assembly a headacheAnonymous reviewerThis wardrobe is adorable for our little girl, however assembly was tricky. We were so sure we had followed the instructions correctly for then for the doors not to fit at the last step- it took us a while and a lot of searching to figure out that the bottom draw base needs to be on a different groove to the other draws- once this was changed and we re did the rails for the other draws we were away. On the instruction book, the first set of instructions is for if the draw is any other than the bottom and from page 10 onwards is the instructions if you are using as the bottom draw - this was not clear enough! Hope this saves someone some time as once it’s together it’s a great product. 4
Not my best buyAnonymous reviewerI bought the wardrobe mainly because of the small size. I have had quite a few wardrobes from Ikea and normally love them. However this was on another level it took most of the afternoon to put up. The back panel took about an hour to get in place with two of us. When we did get it in it still doesn't look quite right with a gap. Tip to leave the basket till last because you can't get the doors when it is in situ. When it was put up it's ok def wouldn't buy it again.1
Really difficult to assembleAnonymous reviewerHard to imagine how this product is designed. So difficult to assemble. To make it worse is the instruction is also not clear.1
Excellent item - 10/12 years of use in boys rooms and still immaculate Anonymous reviewerHave seen some really negative reviews for this item (mostly regarding build instructions) and I’m only here to check dimensions as I’m selling mine now but have to say we bought this (along with the cupboard and drawers) about 12 years ago and it’s been in both my sons room and still in almost perfect condition! Both sons had it from about age 7/8 years to 16 years and it lasted eat better than any other furniture they’ve had!5
Great wardrobe don't follow the instructions Anonymous reviewerThe wardrobe is great if you don't follow the instructions given otherwise the drawers won't fit .
Reading online reviews this is the issue and the wardrobe itself is great.
Perfect size room for children's clothes
My husband ended up having to YouTube it and that made alot more sense that the instructions!

Terrible product Anonymous reviewerJust purchased this, has taken almost 7 hours to put all the pieces together, now at the very end the doors are not aligned to the drawers, they overlap with the top drawer. Either the door will need to be raised one hole up therfore higher than the wardrobe and look odd. The pieces are very awkward, you have to buy every piece separately and then fit like a puzzle. Never had any issues with my previous ikea furniture, however I agree with some of the comments regarding the instructions they are not very clear and overall this wardrobe is a nightmare to build and the pieces of the puzzle do not fit together very well
We have decided to leave a gap in the wardrobe between the drawers and the cupboard, and use a shelf with a wicker type basket to cover the gap, the distance between the doors and the top drawer is only about 1inch but where it overlaps it doesn't sit together or fit. 1
Incorrect dimensions. Awful build.Anonymous reviewerI followed the instructions correctly and ended up with the doors 2.5cm bigger than the frame. The obvious solution was to drop everything one pre drilled hole to rectify it. But then the bottom draw rails don't fit. Awful end result, very disappointing.1
Missing PartAnonymous reviewerOrdered 2 of these online. Was not as easy to put up but we managed. However, we noticed the baskets were missing s they were not in any of the boxes. We collected the order ourselves and got everything. Just check and make sure you have everything when collecting. Hopefully they will be able to send it to us4
Great small wardrobe with drawersAnonymous reviewerWe had no problems putting this wardrobe together. My daughter has had it for about 5 years and it still looks in great condition. It’s versatile, with both drawers and hanging space. 5
Missing PartesAnonymous reviewerAfter many time looking for parts we realized in the end were missing all the 4 adjustable legs. Also the doors don't come the wholes to screw the 2 handles.2
Not worth the moneyAnonymous reviewerWe have a Stuva which has been great. Bought this for child 2 but it has been a nightmare to build. Instructions were useless. The back won't stay in the tiny grooves with no pins to tack it in. The shelf pins came out when adjusting the drawer liners as they didnt fit originally when built to instruction. Now the sides buckle outwards and the drawers won't fit on the rails. The top door hinge means the inside pole has to be placed quite low down, wasting space. I could take a sledgehammer to it right now it's annoyed me that much. Actually, forget the sledgehammer, it's so flimsy a boot would do the job. Don't waste your money. 1
Great for childrenAnonymous reviewerWe’ve had this 5 years and it’s still looking fab. Really user friendly for small children as they have autonomy over getting dressed using drawers and we use a step to enable them to access the hanging rail. We also bought some boxes to store out of season clothing inside the wardrobe out of the way. Surprised at the negative reviews. 5
Feels very cheap. Not up to the quality of PAX, yet not much different in price.Anonymous reviewerSaw this range online and thought it would be great for our attic bedroom, as the low wardrobe would have been ideal to go in the low roof areas. However, once I saw it in-store I was very disappointed. The quality of materials feels really cheap compared to the PAX wardrobes. And for a comparable layout the price is not much cheaper. How can Ikea charge £201 for a 6 drawer chest, when their own MALM units are £50 cheaper for a larger size, and which have a much nicer finish. I would have bought a 120mm high PAX wardrobe in an instant had they been available. Come on guys, buck up!1
Great quality, and price. Ignore the bad reviewsAnonymous reviewerThis wardrobe is part of a modular system, little bit of research confirms this, so be aware it may not come with all the things pictured, they are simply an illustration of variants you can create yourself to suit your decor.
As to those saying that its poorly built and designed, things don't fit etc.... They have quite simply built it wrong (not ikea's fault).
Hint: if you have any build issues, you have built the bottom draw wrong, correct this and everything else will go together like a dream as per the very clear instructions.
I have two of these in my own bedroom and the quality of this furniture for the price point is unparalleled.
Well done ikea, great product5
Awful productAnonymous reviewerI bought this for my daughter aged 8. Hired someone to fit for us and the outcome was some sort of Frankenstein wardrobe. Coming back to the website and seeing all the terrible reviews I actually now feel bad for him. The doors don’t fit and catch the top drawer. The hanging space is far too small so I will need to replace it within the next year. There are no holes for the handles so no way of adding the handles. A complete waste of money :(1
for 0-4 agesAnonymous reviewerWe purchased this product with the intention of using it for children aged 7-8. However, after assembling it, we realized that it is more suitable for younger children. I would not recommend it for kids taller than 140 cm. Despite the fact that this product is recommended when you search for "Wardrobe for kids," we made an error in our purchase. I hope this review helps others avoid the same mistake.1
Once it’s together it’s great!Anonymous reviewerGreat little wardrobe once you finally manage to put it together! Worst instructions I’ve ever encountered. If you buy the one with the big drawer at the bottom don’t put the plastic spacers in when you assemble the drawer front otherwise the drawer sits too high and the doors don’t fit! The instructions say to fit them, don’t! All absolutely fine once built. You can adjust the hinges once fitted to avoid the doors rubbing on the drawers as mentioned in some reviews. All seems to be functioning fine now fitted together3
Very well designed, quick and easy to build.Anonymous reviewerI have recently built two Pax wardrobes and then this Smastad/Platsa for my kids room. Comparing the two, although a fan of Pax, the design of this is great far easier to build. The frame and draws all slot together, the back panel slides in to pre-cut grooves rather than requiring 50+ nails being hammered in. I'd advise fitting the clothes rail before fitting the doors and that your choice of handles will determine how many holes you'll need to drill. Pax doors used to come pre-drilled but, seemingly, giving customers a choice of handles meant they could no longer standardise the pre-drilled holes.5
It’s badAnonymous reviewerThe “surprisingly bad” review below was written by me but I didn’t intend for 5 stars there.
Smastad is a very modular system. It is clear that no one tried assembling to see if the modules fit. If you put it together from the bottom up the bottom drawer can't be mounted as low as it whould because the rails don't fit on the bottom most position. This shift everything up and the doors stick up at the top. Besides the hinges of the doors barely fit. This makes it impossible to install the coat hanger bar properly. In order to install the handles you have to mark the holes with a paper template and drill them yourself. When picking up parts the website doesn't do a good job in telling you which parts are necessary and dozens of different parts you end up with have their own instructions which makes it a mess. All in all a poor experience.1
