In the 4 top drawers, there’s plenty of space for folded baby clothes and small things like pacifiers, bibs and socks.
In the 2 deep drawers at the bottom, you can store toys, blankets and other larger things.
Stands steady also on uneven floors since adjustable feet are included.
To save on our natural resources and make use of as much of the tree as possible, we’ve used sawmill leftovers and scrap wood in the particle boards for SMÅSTAD.

Lacking in quality, instructions inadequateAnonymous reviewerMany problems with this product. The sides of the carcass were not straight and flat - we bought two drawer units and all four sides were bowed. The construction material and method of manufacture is not fit for purpose. It is essential for the sides to be straight and true for the drawers to fit and function properly; this is not the case. I’ve always found IKEA quality good, but these units are significantly deficient. The instructions are also sadly lacking. The bottom drawer has to be assembled differently to the other 5 drawers, and this is not emphasized in any way in the build leaflet. There is no indication of where to locate the drawer runners within the carcass - ie which sets of pre-drilled holes are the correct ones. This had to be done by trial and error - highly unsatisfactory. I have many IKEA products, including a full kitchen and I’ve never had any difficulty with construction or instructions, but this product is well below normal IKEA standards. Very disappointing!
irriatating intructionsAnonymous reviewerI am extremely disappointed with this Ikea drawer. Everything was fine until we tried to fit the drawers into the frame, and the bottom drawer wouldn’t fit properly, no matter what we tried.
After hours of frustration, we discovered that the bottom drawer needs to be assembled differently from the others. This was not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, causing us unnecessary stress and wasted time.

The instructions don’t tell you where the runners for the draws have to be place so after many tries of screwing and unscrewing I gave up. Don’t understand why it is not in the instructions where the runners are meant to be placed.

Glad I read feedback !Anonymous reviewerThe feedback helped me to do this first time. In essence you don’t use the plastic wedge in the very bottom drawer but you do use it on all the others. That’s pretty much all you have to do. The positioning of the drawer runners can be a bit tricky but if you screw the next runner six holes up from the last runner screw for the small draws and thirteen holes up for the large drawers then helps. Also I thought it came with legs but it does not. A bit pissy offy but I’m just going to order some now.

What a joke Anonymous reviewerHave just spent over 3 hours to put this dam unit together what a joke that ikea has seen these reviews and hasn’t made sure the instructions are clearer knowing full well their customers are obviously struggling to build this item. I went through all the reviews with regards to the runners the numbering is correct the key is to not use the little white plastic blocker on the bottom draw which a previous person mentioned

AwfulAnonymous reviewerWe have spent hours trying to put this together. The drawers simply don’t fit. We tried both sets of number spacing suggested in the reviews and neither worked. Right now this is a huge waste of time and money. Impossible to speak to ikea and get any assistance. It simply doesn’t fit.
Infuriating to buildAnonymous reviewerThese drawers come in a million packages and, whilst lovely, are just infuriating to build. You've got 2 different sizes of drawer, and the bottom drawer of both requires different assembly to the other drawers - that's fine and fairly clear in the instructions. HOWEVER, neither the instructions for the thin drawers or the larger drawers showed placement for the rails inside the 6 drawer frame. I built the small drawers first (because they were easiest to lay my hands on) and had to completely remove all the inner rails and redo them because the top drawer didn't align with the top of the unit. A small modification to the assembly instructions showing the spacing for the rails in the 6 drawer unit would have made life so much easier and I would have given 5 stars.
For the record, we have been buying IKEA furniture for over 10 years and have assembled probably 50-100 items in that time and never have I wanted to throw a piece of furniture down the stairs as much as I did with this.
Great product, not so great instructions!Anonymous reviewerThe bottom drawer is slightly different to assemble. 2 plastic pieces on the drawer do not get fitted. They are two white wedges, kind of square looking. Read instructions very closely as it was such a pain trying to figure out why the drawers would not fit. Great product, frustrating instructions, and I’m used to building Ikea pieces.

Yes I gave up at one point!
The assembly trick is in the bottom drawer! In the first step DO NOT use the small round rubbery bit that goes in the hole on the drawer door. This way it will make your bottom drawer lower as it should be. The printed instructions should have explained this much better. Therefore, there is a small difference in assembling the very bottom drawer and the rest of the drawers. Please read check the second half of the assembly manual to save yourself time and stress. I must say, this part should have been explained much more clearly in the assembly manual.
I'm about to lose my mindAnonymous reviewerI've bought 2x of these and both of the top drawers don't fit.
I thought I had done something wrong initially but after taking every single draw out and unscrewing each draw wheel train (and then replacing them) it didn't matter, this cabinet is a wasted purchase.
Not sure why people are slinging numerous stars in their reviews, this product is a complete waste of time.
Draws do not fitAnonymous reviewerNot sure why people are giving this 4 or 5 stars when they identify that the drawers do not fit… kind of makes the product obsolete. I have followed instructions & found the same problem. Any help would be greatly received - I can see a few other people highlight this issue on internet but have found no fix. Is the product just faulty? Also having to drill own holes for handles kind of made this ikea product a pain from start to finish.
Children’s chest of drawersAnonymous reviewerGreat. Round corners safe for toddlers, easy to assemble the main carcass. However no predrilled holes for the handles which is a bit of a let down. It is not obvious enough that the instruction are different for the bottom drawer compared to the rest and the number of holes between the drawer runners on the carcass were incorrect.

What is constructed board?
We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
