Reviews

Nightmare to build!Anonymous reviewerTook hours to build and I couldn’t figure out why the bottom drawers wasn’t fitting. Redid all the drawers thinking I miscalculated the holes but after reading manual again I noticed page 10 says to miss out the little cat shaped white piece only for last draw. Also it arrived chipped in the corners, bits of purple were missing. 1
Absolute nightmare to makeAnonymous reviewerI thought we were onto a winner but installing the drawers made me think I was losing my mind! THE BOTTOM DRAW HAS DIFFERENT INSTRUCTIONS There is a link in another review with what to do with the bottom draw, but even then it is a guessing game where to put the drawers. My dresser now has scratches on it and the woodchip damaged from unscrewing and screwing again. Worst bit is I have another one to Make!1
Instructions are non existentAnonymous reviewer2 weeks later still not completed can’t get all drawers to fit absolute nightmare . No instructions just a row off holes . Malm and hemmes are easy but this is awful. Be a long time before I buy ikea again .2
Solid chest of drawers Anonymous reviewerFound it easy to build and solid. Fits a small space with lots of storage 5
Not as bad as everyone says!Anonymous reviewerSo, despite all the bad reviews, this unit was exactly the right size for a space I had so I went ahead and got it. And I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Don’t know if the instruction booklets have been updated but I found them easy enough to follow and it was built pretty quickly. Once assembled I will say it doesn’t feel as sturdy as some other ikea furniture I have but for a child’s room it is perfect. And really spacious. Very happy overall 4
Poor instructionsAnonymous reviewerI bought these drawers and I have bought many things from Ikea before but never has it been so difficult. It took me 8 hours to build these drawers. After 5 hours of building them I released all the drawers didn’t fit. I looked online at other reviews and noticed that STEP 1 WAS WRONG. I then had to start almost from the beginning. The instructions are useless. Drawers are great but after the tricky built my drawers have got lots of marks and scuffs on because of how difficult it was to build. I’m really disappointed.2
Headache off the MrsAnonymous reviewerMrs wouldn't wait for me to build them and then started giving me headache because the bottom drawer wouldn't align. In her defence she followed the instructions perfectly (I even gave her a gold star sticker). No where in the instructions does it mention the bottom drawer needs assembling differently. I came to the rescue and solved it after reading some other reviews on here. Quality is great but instructions not so great. She's now trying to cuddle me but I've got a headache. Please sort the instructions out so no one else has to go through this struggle1
One of the easiest flat packs Anonymous reviewerIf you follow the drawings it is a very easy set of drawers to put together. The draw supports on the case are shown at the back of the instructions, count the holes and mark both ends. Make sure you use the right guides and the right way round, the draw ones hold the draw bottoms in and give a strong support. Looks good when finished.4
SpacingsAnonymous reviewerI now understand the bottom drawer issue but what r the hole spa ings when having two big drawers and four small drawers at top2
• Fastest Flat-Pack Build Ever – Push-Fit is Genius!Anonymous reviewerThis has got to be the easiest flat-pack furniture I’ve built in years! The new push-fit system with plastic rivets is a game changer—you only need two screwdrivers (flat and Phillips). Since it’s modular and not an all-in-one kit, each piece (drawer fronts, frames, etc.) comes with its own instructions. Pay attention to rail spacing and which holes to use depending on whether it’s the first drawer or the next one above. The drawer fronts even have two settings for easy alignment. The instructions on where to space the rails are there in the drawer unit boxes and tells you for first rail hole 2 then hole 13 etc. Don’t expect everything in one box or one set of instructions—it’s designed so you can customize it how you like. Once I figured out the first unit, I barely needed the instructions and knocked out the next four in about 20 minutes each. Honestly, ignore the negative reviews—this system makes assembly quick, straightforward, and much less stressful than older IKEA builds.5
Help me!!! 6hours and I have given up!!Anonymous reviewerThe instructions are shambolic for ikea!!how do I space the runners for the drawers!! I have screwed and unscrewed and am still now getting anywhere!!!1
Lacking in quality, instructions inadequateAnonymous reviewerMany problems with this product. The sides of the carcass were not straight and flat - we bought two drawer units and all four sides were bowed. The construction material and method of manufacture is not fit for purpose. It is essential for the sides to be straight and true for the drawers to fit and function properly; this is not the case. I’ve always found IKEA quality good, but these units are significantly deficient. The instructions are also sadly lacking. The bottom drawer has to be assembled differently to the other 5 drawers, and this is not emphasized in any way in the build leaflet. There is no indication of where to locate the drawer runners within the carcass - ie which sets of pre-drilled holes are the correct ones. This had to be done by trial and error - highly unsatisfactory. I have many IKEA products, including a full kitchen and I’ve never had any difficulty with construction or instructions, but this product is well below normal IKEA standards. Very disappointing! 2
irriatating intructionsAnonymous reviewerI am extremely disappointed with this Ikea drawer. Everything was fine until we tried to fit the drawers into the frame, and the bottom drawer wouldn’t fit properly, no matter what we tried. After hours of frustration, we discovered that the bottom drawer needs to be assembled differently from the others. This was not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, causing us unnecessary stress and wasted time. 1
Worst item Anonymous reviewerIt took me 3hrs to try and put it together. The instructions don’t tell you where the runners for the draws have to be place so after many tries of screwing and unscrewing I gave up. Don’t understand why it is not in the instructions where the runners are meant to be placed. 1
Awful instructions Anonymous reviewerWhat a joke took hours to assemble, read the reviews and had to take out the squares widgets on the bottom drawer which doesn’t tell you to do in the instructions 1
Glad I read feedback !Anonymous reviewerThe feedback helped me to do this first time. In essence you don’t use the plastic wedge in the very bottom drawer but you do use it on all the others. That’s pretty much all you have to do. The positioning of the drawer runners can be a bit tricky but if you screw the next runner six holes up from the last runner screw for the small draws and thirteen holes up for the large drawers then helps. Also I thought it came with legs but it does not. A bit pissy offy but I’m just going to order some now. 4
Terrible instructions - read Jane & Bryan’s review!!!Anonymous reviewerOnce built it’s lovely but Jane & Bryan’s review saved my relationship. 3
What a joke Anonymous reviewerHave just spent over 3 hours to put this dam unit together what a joke that ikea has seen these reviews and hasn’t made sure the instructions are clearer knowing full well their customers are obviously struggling to build this item. I went through all the reviews with regards to the runners the numbering is correct the key is to not use the little white plastic blocker on the bottom draw which a previous person mentioned 1
6 chest of draws Anonymous reviewerAbsolutely atrocious, no actually measurements to line the draws up with all together it does not fit there’s always one draw out of place I want a replacement or refund 1
AwfulAnonymous reviewerWe have spent hours trying to put this together. The drawers simply don’t fit. We tried both sets of number spacing suggested in the reviews and neither worked. Right now this is a huge waste of time and money. Impossible to speak to ikea and get any assistance. It simply doesn’t fit. 1

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
