Product details

Timeless design with soft rounded corners and a scratch-resistant surface mean that the bed will last for many years.

You can easily change the look of the bed by choosing a headboard in a different colour.

The bed grows with your child, but still keeps its proportions thanks to the clever design of the side panels.

You do not need to keep track of the parts needed to extend the bed since they are included and mounted on the frame.

If you like the style, you can combine the bed with other matching pieces of furniture in the SLÄKT and SMÅSTAD series.

The slats are spaced to offer good support for both spring and foam mattresses.

The slatted bed base lies firmly in place thanks to hooks that you fix to the bed frame.

Quality problemsAnonymous reviewerI bought it on October 22 last year. Now the wooden board at the head of the bed has cracked and there are many cracks. I want to take it down and return it to IKEA, but I can't remove it. I have only bought it for a few months, and there is a serious quality problem!1
Perfect for our small boxAnonymous reviewerPerfect for our small box room5

Looks lovely, but no dice.Anonymous reviewerAfter 6 months of trying to live with these beds, we are binning them and replacing. We hoped to learn to live with them, but from day one they were not suitable for our 3yo and 6yo. The mattress (bought from Ikea together with the bed) sits way lower than the photos have you believe, perhaps just half an inch above the wooden frame when no pressure exerted; this has resulted in tears many times, and bruised ankles/calves/arms where they turned over only to wake themselves when they have banged a limb on the frame. Really disappointing. We bought these in blue and whilst the room looks lovely, on a practical level these beds do not work.1
Good but the choice veneer needs looking atAnonymous reviewerBought this bed back in August and today I have noticed the tops of the bed sides have started hair line splitting on the veneer. I have contacted customer services but yes its not great. In general due to the nature of us fostering this bed is great as we were unsure how old the child would be. So this is perfect. But the finish on the bed needs looking at. Easy put together and great bed. Only other thing is the mattress recommended for this bed is awkward as it is 3 separate pieces ikea should create separate cases to join them up better into one single size or the various stages. It's a bit awkward changing the bed with all three pieces of mattress4

Accessories for SLÄKT

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.

Form design process

Created together with children

Children are the most important people in the world and we’re curious to hear what they have to say since we create products for them! Therefore, we invite children to creative and playful sessions where they get to participate in our product development. Here they can express themselves freely and draw, show or tell us what is important to them. Their opinions matter and make our products better. After all, they’re the experts!
