Product details

The drawers are easy to open and spacious enough with room for toys, clothes and other gadgets that teenagers usually like to "store" on the floor.

Soft edges, recessed handles and just a few visible fittings make the bedframe safe and give it a clean design.

You can easily adapt the timeless look based on your taste and personal style by completing with different bed textiles, pillows and accessories.

The shelf section can be fixed at the headboard or footboard of the bed.

If you need extra storage close at hand, you can hang MÖJLIGHET bed pocket over the headboard or footboard of the bed.

You can also use the bed as a room divider since the back is covered and lacquered in the same colour as the rest of the frame.

If you have a thick rug, the drawers at the bottom are still easy to open since the bottom of the frame is slightly higher.

Reviews

Really wouldn’t recommend this bedAnonymous reviewerReally wouldn’t recommend this bed at all, the wood is cheap and the screws don’t hold well making large holes in the wood! Just Outside of warranty and Ikea won’t help. Have purchased 2 and both awful quality1
Unusable after 15 monthsAnonymous reviewerIt was lovely bed . The middle shaft of the bed broke after 15 months - kids tend to jump on this bed but didn’t expect it to break . It’s covered only by a 1 year warranty so was not able to replace . The size and utility wise it was perfect . .1
Good bedAnonymous reviewerI purchased this bed for my son and it has been perfect — comfortable, sturdy and exactly what he needed. I wish I could have bought him something more extravagant, but this bed is excellent and he’s very happy with it. Thank you to the Greenwich IKEA team for organising the collection; it was the most convenient option for them. I’m truly grateful I was able to buy and arrange this from Saudi Arabia.4
Great bedAnonymous reviewerThis is the second one we have bought so that both our sons have one. Great storage. Very comfortable to sleep on.5
Brilliant BedAnonymous reviewerEasy to construct and solid. Draws are good for organising stuff and clothes. The shelves are good and useful and the bed is brilliant!5
Good product Anonymous reviewerHad this delivered yesterday. Instruction relatively easy to follow, could be confusing as there are four different ways to build the bed. Managed to do it in a couple of hours. Seems to be pretty good quality. Daughter is very happy with the storage. 5
Love it! but one problemAnonymous reviewerI love this bed it is so nice, i love the storage and the shelves and i love the height of it, but one problem is even though im 45kg which should be ok with this bed considering its for teenagers, when i move about i can hear the panels holding up the mattress which i dont think should happen. Since as ithers reviews have mentioned the ikea single mattress is a bit smaller than the bed, you can see how the panels kind of go in when there's weight on the mattress4
Poor qualityAnonymous reviewerWe bought this as it had good storage space and seemed a good design. Unfortunately very poor quality, only lasted 12 months. Every time you move it slightly to get something which has fallen down the side a piece breaks off.1
DisappointedAnonymous reviewerAs a concept this bed seems very good because of the amount of storage, and that is fine however the bed itself can not support much weight as it causes the mattress slats to bend inward and fall through. Not to mention they are only held up by two thin metal rails on either side without central support. Incredibly disappointing especially with how much it costs.2
It’s ok but…Anonymous reviewerMy husband and I bought two of these beds less than 2 yrs ago and the idea behind them is great. However, just like some of the other comments here, I found that once they were put together, they’re really difficult to move on carpet without pulling it apart. Also, the metal bars that holds up the slats are really weak and children have managed to break both beds by just lying down. We have repaired the slats about four times on each bed but periodically, in the middle of the night, we hear the mattress fall through the slats and the kids have been scared out of their sleep. This is a good bed if you don’t use it every day 2
Sturdy Bed, Nightmare to put TogetherAnonymous reviewerAs the title says, bed is sturdy but a nightmare to build and once it’s in position (especially on carpet) it’s hard to move. 3
Love itAnonymous reviewerGreat quality and lots of storage! 5
Disappointed with purchaseAnonymous reviewerThe bed is not fit for purpose as the slats keep falling off the sides and the mattress falls through. Its great for storage but the slats need to be attached to the frame.2
Great bedAnonymous reviewerGreat bed as we have a small room. The draws only go Part way back so in the remainder of the space we have stored teddies we love but cannot have out.5
Lovely bedAnonymous reviewerGreat bed, fits perfectly in the room, solid and easy to assemble.5
Great for teens, makes good use of space.Anonymous reviewerWe have 2 of these for our kids. Slightly complicated build as has multiple options for configuration, best to use 2 people. Very solid when built, good storage via drawers and some space usable beneath mattress too. Heavy item. As with all flat packs, take your time, ensure drilled holes are clear for gromits. Kids love them. 5
Easy to assemble & perfect sizeAnonymous reviewerWe found this item very easy to assemble. It all fitted together perfectly & the size is just right.5
Not fit for purpose and lasted less than a yearAnonymous reviewerWhat we really should have noticed before buying the bed is that there was no mention of any guarantee - we assumed it was at least a year. The bed is described as a 'teenager's dream'.....although, ironically, that would involve sleep - which, as the bed is now fit for the bin after less than a year of use - is hard to come by. We bought the bed for our teenage son, and despite him using the bed correctly (no jumping on it or misuse) the sides have bowed and the 'L' bracket that the slats sit on has a flawed design. The combination of these two issues result in the slats falling through the middle of the bed. We have repaired the slats several times but the lack of rigidity of the construction means that the slats just fall through again after a few days. As a result, my son is currently trying to sleep on a mattress that has fallen through the gap in the slats until we take delivery of a new bed. We feel like we have been hoodwinked by IKEA on this one....1
Amazing bed Anonymous reviewerMy daughter has a small room so this bed was the best thing ever for her. Big drawers to fit loads of things in. 5
Slält bedAnonymous reviewerVery nice compact bed bought for my daughter, the slats seem a little loose but isn’t causing a problem, drawers are deep and can fit a lot in. Unfortunately after we had assembled it we noticed the headboard had a chip, we should have checked beforehand but as we had already got rid of her old bed we had to go keep the headboard with the chip. 4

Accessories for SLÄKT

SLÄKT Bed frame w storage+slatted bedbase, white, 90x200 cm

For all kids who like to dangle legs

When we developed SLÄKT bed with storage, we had help from the world's leading experts at being children – children themselves. 10 children aged 8 to 14 got to see and test the first bed version. Sitting on the edge of the bed with dangling legs, they thought of very important and crucial points.

Anna Carme works with product development at Children's IKEA and came up with the idea of a bed with storage after having visited many homes of families with children around the world. "Many families have limited space and the lack of storage creates a lot of frustration. It can also be difficult for children of school age to find their own place where they can have their things close at hand."

Without hard edges and handles

Anna and her team presented a first version of the bed with shelves and drawers – without handles. "We know that children of this age like to throw themselves onto the bed and can get hurt from protruding handles", Anna explains. And of course, the children threw themselves onto the bed when the team invited them to a Kid's Lab, a structured method we’ve developed to hear children's opinions and thoughts. When the children settled in and sat on the bed’s edge, their ideas started to flow. "A boy pointed out that he could feel the edge of the bed as he sat with his legs dangling", says Anna. “He also wanted to be able to "slide" off the bed easily."

A bed from a child’s perspective

"The other children agreed and of course they were right in wanting a bed to be comfortable to sit on too", says Anna. The children's opinions led to the edge being lowered. ”It was important for us to develop a bed from a child’s perspective. This is the way we do things at Children´s IKEA. By involving children in our product development, we can learn more about their needs and dreams – and how they get in and out of bed."

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.

Form design process

Created together with children

Children are the most important people in the world and we’re curious to hear what they have to say since we create products for them! Therefore, we invite children to creative and playful sessions where they get to participate in our product development. Here they can express themselves freely and draw, show or tell us what is important to them. Their opinions matter and make our products better. After all, they’re the experts!
