Shelves do not fit flush ** Poor Quality from Ikea**Anonymous reviewerHaving assembled as per instructions and I am a seasoned DIYer. The shelves do not sit flush with the side panels.
I measured between the two side panels(outer edges)and it varies from 600mm (at the top) to 604mm (in middle). It appears one of the end panels is warped and not true straight. I would not put anything too heavy on the middle shelve. Very Disappointed with Ikea and the poor quality. Expected better!
Really disappointed Anonymous reviewerI have the entertainment center and side table in this set and love them but this is shoddy and not worth the price. After assembly, and I triple checked my booklet to be sure, the side of the bookcase were warped outwards. There are huge gaps between my shelves and the walls/sides. I’m afraid to put anything on them as they don’t feel sturdy at all. Not the ikea quality I’m expecting more like some wayfair stuff. I would give one star but the laminate is good quality and looks nice totally unusable though.

Shelves too narrowAnonymous reviewerI really love the skruvby units they have fitted perfectly into my cottage. However I am really unhappy with the bookshelves and wish I had read more of the reviews. I have put lots of ikea furniture together and know what I am doing. I have 4 other skruvby units so I know that the shelves do sit flush with the sides on other units. After putting the 2 bookcases together I noticed that there was a gap between the edge of the shelf and the side panel which means that the shelf rocks and seems really unstable when it has stuff on it. I have taken it down and made sure everything is tightened up but there is still a gap. I have put the shelf in the right way, not really sure how you could get that wrong. Very disappointing.

Shelves do not fit in unit correctly Anonymous reviewerUnit is good and easy to build, however the shelves do not have enough width for it and do not fit properly leaving a gap between. it also makes it harder to get the shelves on as the things to hold it go all the way into the unit which means they have to be pulled out a little bit making the shelves unstable. also needs to come with another shelf.

NEEDS ANOTHER SHELFAnonymous reviewerThe space between the shelves is just too great. Unless you have gigantic, tall books you will have a lot of wasted space, and it looks ridiculous. I tried to buy an extra shelf, but IKEA would not let me. It's just a very poor design. It is clear it should be provided with 4 shelves, not three. It is described as a bookcase, after all. Therefore, it should be designed to accommodate average-sized books.
I was told by customer services that they could have provided another shelf if I had claimed one was damaged or missing, but because I was honest and asked to buy one, because I was not trying to get something for free, I was told I could not have one.
If you want this bookcase for normal- sized books (20cms or so), I would not recommend this as the gaps are about twice that and you are left with unsightly and wasted space.
Just a poor execution of what could have been a nice bookcase.
Great small bookcaseAnonymous reviewerThis is the ideal sized bookcase for an home office, not too tall and not too wide. The colour is great and well matched to other Ikea items. Building is easy but does need two people to ensure that the side sections stay put when attempting construction. The only niggle is the quality of the back panels, a bit too flimsy for my liking.

Perfect for kids booksAnonymous reviewerThis was really easy to put together, was a bit worried having read the other reviews but I had no issues at all. I only needed help inserting the backboard to stop the sides moving out but apart from that no issues at all. You’ll feel when pieces are in properly and you’ll know not to over tighten or over push. Perfect for my kids room - the blue looks really smart and it’s not too tall for them to reach.
Love it but needs extra shelf Anonymous reviewerI love the look of it and I paired it with the TV stand and makes my living room look so nice.
However I'm very disappointed that they don't sell extra shelfs for it since it would create a lot more room for my books.
Lovely build quality Anonymous reviewerThis is a great, sturdily built bookcase, the wood finish on the top was really nice, looked like solid wood (until we painted them white!). We used 2 of these alongside the BESTA cabinet system to create a built in media unit around our TV (these are 60cm wide so same width as the standard BESTA cupboard frame). The BESTA bookcases were unfortunately too tall for our low ceilings, so I spent ages finding an alternative shorter bookcase. These on top of our custom BESTA sideboard fit perfectly! Added some integrated lighting and a pelmet across the top and the whole thing looks amazing! Highly recommended product.
Needs a 4th shelfAnonymous reviewerVery nice bookcase but it’s definitely lacking, the spacing looks very strange no matter how you arrange the shelves, it’s very clear there should be a 4th shelf but there isn’t even an option to buy an extra
