Reviews
Weak joints! Anonymous reviewerThe SKORVA part, carries a lot of weight onto two slots that are poorly designed. That said, unlike other designers, by poor design, that can give way in an unexpected way.
With my previous one lasting 8+ years before giving way, and this started failing within a few months, but due to an extra safety measure, when it failed today, just now, 4 years later, I wasn't left with more damage, from the failure, like last time.
But a nasty shock as a loud pop noise occurred, as the taped in place shock absorber, took up the load of the beam sheering off as it failed.
That last time broke the side supports as it failed. Due to a single point failure from poor design.
With the part liable to fatigue, and likely failed years ago, but was prevented from collapse, by the other ikea bed support.
Strong and well madeAnonymous reviewerGreat strong and heavy cross beam. Made of metal. Perfect for heavy people
Great for priceAnonymous reviewerThis is a needed part for the bed amd it keep it from moving without it you wouldnt be able to fit the mattress and the mattress would fall through to the floor worth the 20 pound price and again i got this as part of a package deal
Great productAnonymous reviewerNot used the mid beam but going to use it in my camper van
exactly what it says, love it!Anonymous reviewerNeeded a replacement for my beam as I have had it the metal bed for 10 years. the quality is still the same, durable with easy understanding.
Very strongAnonymous reviewerBought 4 of these to make a bed in my campervan, excellent product, very strong, extended to the size I needed. Perfect 👌
Metal bar for the middle of a befAnonymous reviewerThe item is well made and suitable for providing the support required. However, it is a complete nonsense that it ( and the slats) are not simply part of the bed and are sold separately. How on earth a sales person can let a customer order a bed and mattress without the mid bar and slats is beyond me. These items should form part of the bed frame kit and NOT be sold separately. IKEA needs to check out the many reviews that mention this policy as being a difficulty. A change needs to be made.
Better late than never.Anonymous reviewerPaid for express delivery, but it was delayed so that was irritating. The product itself was fine.
Skorva bed mid beamAnonymous reviewerWe've had our bed ver 20 years and after moving house realised that there was metal fatigue at the end of the beams. While the design of the beam has changed and it is now 2 piece not 3 piece it is close enough to use on the older beds.
Fantastic.Anonymous reviewerFantastic piece of kit, with the brackets fitted in my van makes life easy to lift bed out when not in use so allows me to carry other loads.
Skorva mid beam Anonymous reviewerOn visiting my local Glasgow ikea last night I was no optimistic resolving a bed issue which meant our Heimdal bed (bought over 20 years ago) could not be fixed. The central beam on which the slats sit had sheered at the top end and we feared the worst. We measured up and took photos and went to customer service and the person helping us could not have done more. She showed us how the Skorva beam works and helped us measure the part we hoped would resolve our issue. I’m delighted to say that it worked and our bed is fixed. Thank you Ikea!
Bent ends Anonymous reviewerAfter reading some reviews I'm finding myself lucky this mid beam has lasted 5 and a half years, ideally would do with supporting legs to keep the weight off the flimsy ends that clip onto the bed frame, I'm hoping my local IKEA store stock the frame clips as spare parts to fix where it's all bent apart.
very weak materialAnonymous reviewerI have to buy it as I have an Ikea bed. The original one last for 2 years. The second one I had bought last only for 3 months. Very weak material. No allow your child to have fun jumping on any IKEA bed!
Don't stand on the bed!Anonymous reviewerSon stood on the bed and it bent in the middle. Obviously not designed for a 6' plus teenager to put all his weight on the centre. Pleased I am able to get a replacement part rather than a new bed.
Great item-my old Ikea midAnonymous reviewerGreat item-my old Ikea mid beam broke after 10 years and replacing it with this meant I did not have to buy a new bed frame.
Essential strut for double bedAnonymous reviewerDoes what it says on the tin. My big gripe is that it is not made clear when purchasing the bed frame that one of these is needed or the frame is useless
SKORVA a really clever designAnonymous reviewerSKORVA is a really clever design for building double bed bases, supplying rigidity and permitting the use of two independent bed slat sets side by side so one sleeper's movements don't disturb the other sleeper. Its strength and siffness avoids the need for mid-bed props that you see on some bed bases.
Excellent stuff, thanksAnonymous reviewerExcellent stuff, thanks
Required part, not sure why this needs a separate reviewAnonymous reviewerYou need this part when you buy a bed frame, so I'm not sure why this needs a review. However, this was exactly the same as the part on my previous MALM bed, so I didn't need to get another one when I replaced that. So that's a bonus.
Essential item for the malm double bedAnonymous reviewerSturdy steel beam. If only ikea made it a supplied item as standard for the double bed. Had to make two additional journeys in the end. One to buy this item and another to buy the slatted base.

What is steel?
Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
