This desk is designed to grow with your child, thanks to the three different heights.

The desk is easily adjusted to 59, 66 or 72 cm by using the knobs on the legs.

You can keep cables and extension cords organised by placing them in the cable holders between the front and back legs.

Strong desk frame but easily marked desktop.Anonymous reviewerI've bodged this desk by fitting castors to the legs. This increases the desktop height but it also increases the versatility. The frame is steel, so it's strong. The desktop is the usual melamine covered chipboard type only available in white. It would be nice to see an alternative of desktop patterns, such as oak effect. So much of IKEA furniture is white and a home with this colour of furniture can soon look like a health centre. The desk is very easy to assemble though and it does have three height settings. Bear in mind that you'd have to remove everything from the desktop before raising or lowering the desk height.4

Perfect for meAnonymous reviewerI bought this because it was simple, adjustable and came in white to match my other furniture. The little shelves that fit within each set of legs hold all my cables and plugs so they’re not training. I put it together by myself in a few minutes and at the highest it is the perfect height and work surface for me (5’6in adult) with my office chair. I added a monitor stand with drawer (Elloven) and it still came in under budget. Very pleased and would recommend. 5
Chipped already!Anonymous reviewerAs someone less than 5' 2" tall, I was really happy with this desk, both because of the low height and the handy side rails, plus the chunky but clean lines look nice. However I've not had it long and have been very careful with use but I've already noticed a couple of chips on the top surface, which doesn't bode well and is really disappointing. I've had the cheaper Linnmon table for a couple of years and been much less careful with it and it doesn't have a single scratch.2
Sturdy and compact, wish there was an adult height versionAnonymous reviewerThis desk is designed for children, but as an adult I find it really useful. It is compact (96cm width) which is just perfect enough for me to fit in my room for WFH. It can hold up to 50kg - useful for holding a computer monitor, laptop and more. The socket holders on the sides are super useful. Wish this was made in an adult height with some drawers on top.5
PLEASE Make desks for average sized womanAnonymous reviewerThis is the only desk at IKEA that suits an average height UK woman (164cm). Ergonomically we have to have desks around 65cm in height (absolute max 70cm). Adult IKEA desks are usually 72-75cm in height. Last time I had the Alex desk I had to saw the legs shorter. Shouldn’t have to do that. I really wanted a desk with inbuilt cabinet, but all desks with inbuilt cabinets are not saw-able.5

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
