I didn't want another metal or plastic tray that will be in landfill for ever so hopefully this bamboo tray is better for the environment.
I should point out that in store I didn't buy the first tray I picked up. There were slightly rough edges underneath which could easily cause a splinter in your hands. I rejected several trays to find one that was totally smooth all over.

What is bamboo?
Strong, flexible and one of the world's fastest growing plants – bamboo has many uses that make it an excellent renewable material.
