They're probably there as part of manufacturing but would be easier to clean without. Perhaps they could be underneath and charge more?

The colour selection was very limited and quite boring - maybe that’s why it can be so inexpensive. I’m using it in the freezer to store ice cream sandwiches after removing the cardboard packaging - it works well for this.
