Not bad but..Anonymous reviewerI've got older MALM chests so i know how to build these and to be fair it looks good and the quality is ok.
First thing to note from the building process is the changes in component.. bits have changed from metal to plastic, things aren't veneered fully and things are thicker/thinner compare to the old design. I don't think these changes have improved the design but are more likely cost cutting measures.
The other issue I have is that it's a bigger unit than the corresponding older chest which means it doesn't match but on the plus side, there is more space inside.
Oh and obviously it's more expensive. Oh well.

Veneer stains by itself and no soft close on drawersAnonymous reviewerI'm surprised to say that the quality of this product has gone down hill in the recent years.
I was surprised to find that there is no soft close mechanism on the drawers which surprised me as you'd expect this to be the standard nowadays.
Second is the "veneer".
We have the chest of drawers in the spare guest bedroom which doesn't get used. There is a ceramic pot on top of the veneer and to my surprise this left some kind of dark stain on the veneer? How is that even possible? The pot was white, it's clean and no holes on the bottom therefore it couldn't be from the pot itself. And these stains keep getting darker, there are two, one of which is older but wasnt noticeable. I tried cleaning these but it is not coming off at all. It seems like it's gone into the wood below. Again, no idea how this is even possible.
I tried contacting customer services but as bought in store and lost receipt, they said they can't do anything.

Drawers are much sturdier and easier to put together as the rails come already fitted to the sides of the unit. I bought both the drawers and bedside drawers and they look really good in my sons room

Not the set of 4 is broken too such a waste of money.
The new Ikea drawers have lost quality. I have a set of 5 drawers I got 5 years ago from Ikea that are still in perfect condition. I’ve used them for both my kids. It’s the only reason I bought again from Ikea. I’m really disappointed

Well made quality productAnonymous reviewerThese, as with all IKEA items, are easy to assemble into a sturdy cabinet. IKEA have thought about the issue that a lot of lesser drawer unit suffer from and have included a metal support for underneath the centre of the drawers. This helps take the weight of the contents and prevents the bottom from bowing. I used KALERUM handles.
