Decent bed, but has a major squeak (Fixed with an easy hack!)Anonymous reviewerThe IKEA Malm single bed is a decent quality bed, but it used to squeak horribly every time my son turned over. After seeing that this is a common issue in other reviews, I tried a suggested fix: adding small anti-slip pads to the bottom of each wooden slat. It worked perfectly—no more noise!
While IKEA products are usually great, this is definitely a design flaw.
IKEA should really include a set of 16 small adhesive rubber pads with the bed.
Hopefully, IKEA action this so future buyers don't have to deal with the same headache.

Slats fall through if you sit at the side and noisy at night. Anonymous reviewerWe bought this bed for our daughter around May 23. We can hear her when she rolls over as it creaks a lot even after checking all the fixings. Also the slats have fallen through the frame. The slats have slipped off the metal runner that is there to hold them. It is fairly flexible and even though screwed in tight I can wobble it with my hand. It’s such a shame because she loves the look of the bed and it has great space underneath for storage.

Good, but noisyAnonymous reviewerWe bought the Malm bed for our son to replace his toddler bed. It is very sturdy and grown up looking, and similar to his old bed, Busunge model, which we hoped would help him get used to it. The only issue is the slats are terribly noisy whenever you sit, lie or move on the bed. The slats are curved, and so they move and flatten a bit into the metal rails when you get in bed. I would have preferred fixed, flat slats rather than 'sprung' ones as these don't move about. We have had a lot of ikea products over the years and they have all been brilliant, but this is the first one which has been disappointing.
Not happy with headboard Anonymous reviewerThis is a fantastic, sturdy bed but the headboard isn't held together well with the screws provided due to the height. Such a shame and only comes with one year guarantee. I am now having to pay for another bed entirely.

Slight damages overall good Anonymous reviewerThere were a few dents and scrapes on the headboard. The metal bars that go across the base of the bed under the slats were slightly bent so didn't fit. Other than that my daughter absolutely loves her bed.
