To address other replies from Ikea - no the screws are not loose, yes the slats are aligned correctly, yes we have used the stoppers...
So now what? My child needs their sleep(!) but the bed was 339 in total and the rest is fine... there are also other reviews talking about this squeak

NoisyAnonymous reviewerI bought these slats yesterday along with the Malm single bed frame. I spent hours assembling this product and was so disappointed when I realised how noisy the slats are. My 13-year-old daughter can't lie on this without the bed creaking, and it's incredibly loud. Every movement on the bed sounds awful, even the gentlest of movements. What am I supposed to do? Apparently, I have to return the bed fully assembled or pay for IKEA to come and collect. I don't have a van to move this bed, and IKEA apparently won't accept the return if I disassemble it and return. I have my eldest daughter coming home for Christmas tomorrow, which is why we bought a new bed for the spare room. What are we supposed to do now, just 2 days until Christmas? I'm so disappointed with IKEA.

Just what I neededAnonymous reviewerI have DIY build my own single bed, I use Melamine board as a base so the bed gone damp and mouldy after days. I am not sure how good it would be. The curve of the slat seems good for ventilation. There’s a lot negative reviews on website like making noises and poor quality, presumably it would be fine for who are not overweight.
It is cheaper than i cut for myself.

Put the mattress on the floor to see if it made a difference and it did, perfect nights sleep. Fine for children but for an adult, not worth the money. Will be replacing the slats
