Product details

Part of the Nytillverkad collection where several IKEA classics have been given a new look.

Designer Noboru Nakamura used LAPPMON sofa as a starting point when he created KLIPPAN. By simplifying and shortening it by 18 centimetres, less materials were needed, which effected the price positively.

Hallsta cover was first shown on the cover of our 1984 catalogue. Now, 40 years later, it has been given a new life under the name Långban.

Durable metal springs in the seat give the sofa a springy comfort, allowing you to sit, relax and enjoy it for many years.

10 year guarantee. Read about the terms in the guarantee brochure.

Reviews

Well worth the moneyAnonymous reviewerWell worth money and comfortable5
Nice, firm sofaAnonymous reviewerWell sized, clean and simple design, and nice and firm (to help prevent getting a bad back). My last Klippans lasted 12.5 years before the padding became too squashed and baggy. The price has gone up considerably since I bought those and the sofa now has a pine structure, instead of beech. I'd give it five stars if Ikea brought out a wider colour range of sofa covers.4
Very PleasedAnonymous reviewerAfter reading reviews I was slightly concerned about this sofa, however it’s comfy, sturdy and super easy to assemble. Very pleased considering the price I paid for it. 5
Good valueAnonymous reviewerThis is a modern sofa that looks good and fits our space well. Covers give lots of options. Not as well built and comfortable as it used to be - our older model is still going strong and much better4
We are satisfied Anonymous reviewerWe are satisfied 5
Not worth it Anonymous reviewerBought this after Christmas and it is already broken2
PerfectAnonymous reviewerThe dugs no eaten it yet!5
It's greatAnonymous reviewerI don't understand the ppl leaving bad reviews. I've got a six month old baby and until now I had a DFS sofa that I hated ever since I reached my second trimester. It was low and deep and so hard for me to use. I then gave birth and struggled even more with it. I can sit and breastfeed on the klippan SO easily and comfortably. I sit on it for hours with my son while he naps. I can lay on it. I can get up from it so easily and back onto it so easily. Genuinely it's the best 200£ I've ever spent. I wish I'd never spent 900£ at DFS, total waste. My husband put the klippan together on his own in about 20 minutes. The arms screwed on to the sides. The back to the back. Job done. The cover went on in about one minute. Seriously I can't recommend it enough. I like the white company in terms of interior decor and the medium grey looks lovely with a gorgeous faux fur throw on it. It's an AWESOME couch. Couldn't decide between Ektorp & this & very happy I chose this!!5
Comfy sofaAnonymous reviewerIf you can put it together it will stand the test of time 5
A bit hardAnonymous reviewerIt is a bit hard and not very comfortable for long use. Try it before purchasing and it does not get softer after some use.3
The price for cover isAnonymous reviewerThe price for cover is higher than the sofa3
Leg broke during installationAnonymous reviewerThe wood is really fragile, and it broke when we tried to flip the chair back up after installing the legs.1
Classic Klippan!Anonymous reviewerGood to seat3
Very good value.Anonymous reviewerVery good value.5
Rubbish coverAnonymous reviewerMost disappointing item I have ever bought from Ikea. The settee itself is fine but the cover is a nightmare to fit. We have tried our best but it still doesn't fit well - I have now bought a throw to cover it over - not ideal.3
Bought as come with cheapAnonymous reviewerBought as come with cheap replacement covers as my cats have ruined so many sofas. Is fairly comfortable with few extra cushions for back. Covers are amazing, cat hairs wipe off easily and they gave hardly touched it. Where they have snagged it it easily popped back in with fine needle. Have a spare cover but probably won't use for a while🤞 Quick and fairly easy to put together. Re-tightened straps after a week.5
Small sofa for kitchenAnonymous reviewerIdeally sized to be located at the end of the kitchen looking out over the garden. Best seat in the house!5

Accessories for KLIPPAN

Form design process

A sofa for the many people

In the late 1970s, product developer Lars Engman asked designer Noboru Nakamura to create a robust sofa with soft corners and a washable cover – at a price that families with small children could afford. Nakamura used LAPPMON sofa as a starting point. By simplifying and shortening it by 18 centimetres, less material was required – and there was room for more on each pallet. KLIPPAN sofa was born and introduced in 1980.
