Colour problemsAnonymous reviewerIf you have the black/brown or beech effect cabinet it is frustrating as IKEA don't do the glass door inserts in those colours. If you have inserts in other colours just swap them around. I wanted black/brown inserts with the glass doors so I switched them and put white inserts on the cupboards I had doors on where you can't see. Problem solved. Would be easier if they just made them in all colours of kallax unit though

Pointless buying another coloured unitAnonymous reviewerWhy do Ikea insist on only producing these with a white interior? I have several Kallax units around the house, in differing colours, but would only be able to use these inserts in a white unit.
Surely there are others out there who would want these with differing inserts, but Ikea are doing what Ikea do best and ignoring their customers.

Eventually!Anonymous reviewerI love these glass inserts, very easy to add and in theory put together, I did have a couple of problems especially with the door hinges but to be fair After a couple of phone calls on two separate occasions about the same item in two deliveries, matters were corrected and replacements sent promptly everything is now sorted and I'm very happy. For future reference perhaps IKEA need to look more closely at the burring on the underside of the door hinge bracket that screws to the side of the cube to fix the glass door insert surround.

It's OK but not the best design from IkeaAnonymous reviewerThese and the other Kallax inserts are OK if you instal them carefully, but unlike other Ikea self-assembly furniture, you can get them misaligned and then it looks bad, especially if you have a big Kallax frame, then all the doors can look wonky. All these inserts need positive alignment pins with alignment holes pre-drilled in the frame. It's quite expensive once you've bought all the inserts. Also, my local Ikea did not have all the different types of insert in stock, e.g. the drawers, and they couldn't be ordered for home delivery. I had to drive many miles to the next Ikea - this is not good for our carbon dioxide footprint.

Material
What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
