Brilliant sofa, comfy and stylishAnonymous reviewerI bought this sofa after only using the online planner tool. I was a bit worried because I hadn't seen the colour in real life, or tested how comfy it was. I ordered the Samsala yellow green, and when it turned up I was over the moon. The colour is less yellowy than it looks in the photos, which is what I was hoping. It took me about 30 mins per module to put together, and it was really easy. It says you need 2 people to put it together but I easily did it alone. We decided to get the headrests to use as armrests instead of the fixed bulky armrest, and I'm really pleased we did. The headrest/armrest is comfy, it doesn't move about or slide when leaning on it, and you can easily move it from armrest to headrest and back.
The sofa is also softer than I was expecting as Ikea described it as a firm sofa. But it's actually softer than our previous sofa. Overall would recommend.5
Avoid this sofaAnonymous reviewerI've had two of these for 3 to 4 years now and they're genuinely horrendous. The side sections of the seats just completely collapse when you sit on them, you sink in all the way to the bottom. It's so uncomfortable because you constantly slide off as a result. Even the covers are now so loose because the cushions have sagged so much.
The backrests are completely warped too, the top foam piece has shifted backwards and left a very noticeable dent. I contacted Ikea about this early on and their advice was to just not sit on the backrest, which I never did. The sofa is freestanding, and I suspect the lack of a wall behind it hasn't helped, but that's not something that should matter.
I had the exact same sagging issue with their pocket spring mattresses too, so this seems to be a wider problem with how Ikea handles pocket springs generally. The 10 year warranty is meaningless in practice.
Won't be buying another Ikea sofa, or anything of theirs with pocket springs, again.1
Lovely Sofa!Anonymous reviewerThis is a lovely comfy sofa and exactly what I wanted after years of my very uncomfortable old sofa. It fits my space perfectly and easy to install, I highly recommend this sofa!5
Okay some pros and mostly consAnonymous reviewerI purchased the 1.5 seat in February and a chaise, the chaise was returned as too heavy to move for cleaning, also you have to pull the arms off each time you wash the covers, which is not convenient, I have just purchased another 1.5 as I know I can move this on sliders to move an arm which I previously purchased with the chaise, the good thing about this modular seating you can swap it around, by moving the pieces that are fixed to the arm rest I am 72 and I managed to put it together, the hardest was putting the covers on the arms and back3
Very stylish and minimal, however soft and uncomfortable Anonymous reviewerThis modular sofa set (I opted for the the 1.5 seater +1 seater +2x armrests) is easy on the eye and of a clean minimalist design, however I found the seating cushion to be on the softer side. If you prefer firm sitting, avoid this sofa. Also, after having this for 1 month today I’ve noticed that the corner where I sit more frequently has lost its ‘firmness’ - this is a tad disappointing. I do not see much longevity in the cushions… the backrests after a while become rather uncomfortable (even with a lumbar pillow) so any long torso folk/spinal issues folk please avoid.
This sofa is great for short use and aesthetics are close to other designers for half the price, so it is acceptable for value. Would I be comfy watching a movie or snuggled up? Not particularly.
PROS:
Clean design
Shallow under seat storage
Modular design
Removable covers
Easy to assemble (I did it myself)
Cons:
Backrest very uncomfortable
Cushion/foam too soft
Polyester covers
