Uncomfortable - no seat depthAnonymous reviewerI was extremely dissatisfied with your chair. I felt uncomfortabel and felt I was going to fall out of it. I measured the seat depth as 17.5 inches, which is very low. Unfortunately, I trusted Which! and purchased your chair. Three friends who sat in the chair and also felt uncomfortable. It may be partly due to the back, which can't be adjusted.
I'm now stuck with an uncomfortable chair. I would like to send it back, but all the packing has been thrown away.1
poor quality failed after 9 monthsAnonymous reviewerthe strut failed on this after just 9 months.
as such it gets 1 star. for the price it's really poor1
Office ChairAnonymous reviewerExcellent product , very comfortable, easy to assemble , choice of colours , highly recommended5
Not bad but none adjustable backAnonymous reviewerFairly comfy but the back doesn't recline at all making it feel like you are pitched forward2
Not hard to build, according to my teenage son.Anonymous reviewerIt’s comfortable. Easily adjustable with a reclining action to boot, which works really well now that he has read the instructions of how to operate it.4
comfortableAnonymous reviewereasy to put together, great to be able to pick it up from local supermarket rather than drive to IKEA.
comfortable and works well4
Great value, but stains have left there markAnonymous reviewerBrilliant value, sturdy, in contrast to some chip board furniture from Ikea. Great functions. Wish it went back further with maybe extendable foot rest. I would say comfortable for a good few hours but not hyper cosy. Lost a star as the white version has soiled easily and I am not looking for some kind of elastic cover for the lower lumbar area, haven’t found the time to see if I can clean it somehow. Super easy to assemble. 4
An OK office ChairAnonymous reviewerI find the chair comfortable. However the seat was very slippery to start with . It has taken the best part of a month before I stopped sliding forward on it. In addition the wheels are truly awful. They are narrow so will soon damage your floor. The auto-lock mechanism means that once you have got up you have to drag the chair around as it will not wheel properly. The stem of the wheels is not the standard 11mm but 10mm. I ended up buying some more "floor friendly" wheels, but had to go to China to get a sensible price for these non standard items. Would I buy another one - I doubt it4
Get a MARKUSAnonymous reviewerI had a MARKUS for years and it was great, I only went for this one because my MARKUS had finally given up and it is no longer available in leather. This newer and more expensive JÄRVFJÄLLET is a rattling piece of garbage in comparison, also with all the "new" adjustments it offers the only one I care about (back leaning) is not as adjustable on this as it was on the MARKUS. If I hadn't used a £100 voucher I won to buy this I'd be even more deviated on how poor the quality of this is. Wish I could change my mind now. Dissapointing product IKEA. 1
Far better than expected considering the reviewsAnonymous reviewerI've only just bought the chair but I've spent a whole day sitting on it and am very happy. Some noted that the cushion loses it's spring so I can't comment on that yet. However everything else is great. Loving the lower back support, it's adjustable as well which I wasn't expecting.
My only minor complaint which I've seen mentioned is that the arm rests really need to lock in place as otherwise they can move forward and back if you lean on them at certain angles.
A few mentioned the seat cushion not being large enough. I've found that if you adjust it so that it's as far forward as it can go then it's got plenty of space5
Back pain and annoying feetAnonymous reviewerThe chair seemed comfortable while sitting on it at the store but when I use it for more than 15mins I get back pain, probably due to how small the base is so you constantly feel like you need to support yourself.
And the feet don’t roll well even on hard floor, or with a chair mat, it’s easier to just pick the chair up and move it instead of moving on it while seated.2
Disappointingly uncomfortable Anonymous reviewerI bought this 2 and a half years ago and it’s got to the point where the seat provides zero cushioning whatsoever. It’s all sealed so reupholstery is not possible either. I use it daily and it’s worth spending a bit more for regular home use. 3
Looks great, back is stiff every day avoidAnonymous reviewerLooks fantastic, easy to build. But! No matter how I adjust it or how many breaks I take, at the end of each day my lower back is painfully stiff!
I am cutting my loses and throwing this on Gumtree and researching something more suitable.2
A great home office chairAnonymous reviewerOverall i am happy with this chair. It is well made, looks cool, is comfortable and my lower back feels well supported. I tried it in a store so was happy that it was suited to my body.
The recline mechanism works well given it is a chair and not a sun-lounger.
I'd prefer the sliding arm rests to have a locking mechanism as they will slide during normal use.
I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 due to the ridiculous castors. They feel just like a chair with a broken castor. Moving the chair, even when you are sat in it, is awkward. This seems to be a deliberate "design feature" but I can't imagine anyone will find this anything but highly irritating. Want to push yourself away from your desk. Forget about that! At some point I might try and replace them with proper wheels that turn freely.4
Excellent chairAnonymous reviewerThis is as good as other reviews suggest: it provides good support, can be adjusted in all dimensions. It's both practical and comfortable. It also looks good (in black)5
My review is missing! Anonymous reviewerI wrote a review this morning to say this chair cracks so badly it interfers with concentration - my review not posted and no feedback……I would like someone from ikea to contact me please and YES we did put it together properly…..1
Noisy chair is this to be expected?Anonymous reviewerSo it looks good, it is comfortable but the level of creaking is seriously irritating and impacts on ability to concentrate.1
No replacement parts!Anonymous reviewerAfter a few months the plastic T bracket that holds the head rest to the chair broke. I went in store and asked for a replacement. Ikea staffer said nah, sorry we don't have those and it's not covered by the guarantee :( I tried 3D printing my own part with some success but really one piece of plastic should be available as a spare part to get this chair usable again. I guess Ikea would rather you landfill the old one and buy a new one.2
Very disappointedAnonymous reviewerThis is the second time I have been asked by IKEA for a review of this product.
I bought this chair on the strength the of the excellent review given in Which magazine. The seat pad is too thin and back does not recline enough to be comfortable for me.
After posting the first review someone from IKEA replied, "We appreciate your feedback and will look into ways to improve our product's durability." I did not have a problem with the durability of the product. It was lack the comfort that made the chair unusable for me, which is why I returned it. The IKEA staff who reply to customer reviews need to read them more carefully before they post. 1
A decent replacement for a 5yr old Markus leatherAnonymous reviewerA sturdy chair, with some versatile options. Comfortable enough for my all day work from home days. 4
