Chair pine Anonymous reviewerBrilliant for changing colour or just varnishing. Would recommend. I personally think they need to be varnished as soon as possible. Or may stain if you drop curry on them ! Perfect for what I wanted . 5

Design changed; lower quality nowAnonymous reviewerWe have 4 older Ivar chairs which I am happy with. I bought 2 more today (intending to get 2 more later).
However when I was screwing one together, the curved back piece split. This is because that piece of wood is actually two pieces glued together along the line where the screw goes.
This is an obvious weak point and should never have passed the design stage. I now see some other reviewers have mentioned this issue.
Also the way the seat attaches to the legs has changed. Again, cheaper methods/materials (a plastic peg and a tiny screw, instead of a long screw through a pre-drilled hole).
And the angle of the legs has changed, so they don't match our current ones. Some of the photos still show the older design.
And yes Ikea staff, I know I can return it. But it makes me angry that I should have to (via two trams) just because you want to skimp. You rely on some people keeping the faulty items to make the cheaper materials pay off. It's not a sustainable approach.1
