Dramatic lightAnonymous reviewerBought on a whim but glad I did. Lovely dramatic design but subtle at the same time as it's white, it looks great above our bed but would look equally good in a living room. The light cast is diffused so soft and not as harsh as a central ceiling light could be. The only issue I have with it, is the having to add to the ceiling fitting because of its weight and shape - its a minor thing but made worse by standing on a bed to attach to the fitting :) the final circular plastic piece which is sited over the bulb is slightly awkward to fit because you need to press it into place - fine on most things, but being paper means you have to be careful not to push any finger through the surrounding area!!
Looks really beautifulAnonymous reviewerThis lampshade looks really beautiful once it’s up and is quite easy to install. The only tricky part was fitting the small disc at the bottom. My light is quite high up, so I found it a little difficult to slot the disc into place without pulling too much on the paper, as there isn’t really anywhere to get enough leverage to push it in properly.
One thing that could potentially be an issue is the opening at the top. A few flies have already managed to find their way inside, so I’m slightly concerned I may end up with a little fly graveyard in there over time! But we shall see.
Overall, it’s a great purchase for the price and looks really beautiful once installed. I’ve also added a colour-changing bulb, which makes it look even more effective.
Love it in a large roomAnonymous reviewerThis is such a lovely pendant lampshade. I found it really easy to assemble and it is v large but looks great on our large room with high ceilings. The bottom element also makes the light diffuse really nicely.
Excellent design for a larger spaceAnonymous reviewerI am impressed with this good piece of design. It looks great over a dining table, it has real presence. In a sitting room, you do need space for it - and ceiling height otherwise it could be daunting for taller people. Instructions very clear. Assembly is fiddly for such a large and delicate item. I used some lubricant to click things together, that made it easier. A major fault is that it does not fit on a UK ceiling light fitting. I do think they should supply one in the box, for UK customers. I had to hunt around for for, and found that not all the reducers work. A tight little clip on circle one did not. A larger flat plate style did the job. Fiddly though, with such a large diameter item. But the finished result is excellent, so for £19 I am not complaining. Very good value.
Awkward design and sloppy manufacturingAnonymous reviewerThis product is nearly impossible to assemble without damaging the fragile paper shade. Worse, the manual claims that it should be left hanging for 72 hours before the gravity evens out the wrinkles in the paper but that just does not happen - weeks later it's still crumpled in exactly the same places where it was crumpled when removed from the packaging. All in all, lots of messing about for a very average effect. If you want an oversized IKEA paper shade, go for the RISBYN - it's cheaper, much easier to install and looks much better too.
Impossible to assembleAnonymous reviewerI was very disappointed with this IKEA lantern. The assembly was extremely frustrating because the parts were not properly aligned, making it impossible to fit the internal fixtures as instructed. No matter how carefully I followed the directions, the holes and attachment points did not line up correctly. What should have been a simple assembly turned into a waste of time and effort. The lantern looks attractive in the photos, but the poor manufacturing quality and difficult assembly process make it hard to recommend.
Huge!Anonymous reviewerBeware, it is bigger than you think! Even after looking at measurements, I was still shocked when I hung this up! I have put it in a small/average sized room and it is verging on being way too big for the space so may need to return.
