Nice Product, Awful AssemblyAnonymous reviewerOne of the most stressful experiences of my life trying to put this nightmare drawer together. I nearly threw it out of the window. Have wine on hand.2
Great Little CabinetAnonymous reviewerLooks good, I think the reviews about building it are a little exaggerated. It wasn't that bad. I think if the parts were numbered in the instructions and with stickers it would make it a bit easier but if you really look at the instructions pictures and lay all the parts out it is ok. 5
Excellent quality unit, looks great! No bother to assemble.Anonymous reviewerDelighted with this wee cabinet which looks great, very stylish and functional bit of furniture. Assembly was not bother, the instructions are detailed, but I found very clear and achievable in less than 2 hours by yourself. Top tips: 1) make sure you have a decent screwdriver as the screws can be tough, but persevere as they will go in fully and 2) just keep turning the unit round so you are always screwing downwards, makes it so much easier.5
Awful to assembleAnonymous reviewerThis is without doubt the worst IKEA product to assemble I have ever encountered. Sharp metal edges that I cut my hand on, screws that are small, fiddly and need to be angled in to place. The top drawer I just cannot get to attach to the runners. I messed around for three hours and gave up. Waste of time and money2
brilliant !!Anonymous reviewerStudy, Good looking and so practical .5
Terrible to put togetherAnonymous reviewerGreat furniture but whoever designed it needs sacking. On the draw fronts, the self tapping screws were hard to screw in fully so I had to leave a few not fully tightened. As for the front panel of the upper drawer, I had to grind some of the metal drawer bottom away so that it would fit flush in order to screw it to the front panel. So in order to buy this furniture make sure you have a good set of screwdrivers and a small Dremel to hand. 2
Looks nice, pain to build...Anonymous reviewerBy far the most unpleasant piece of furniture from Ikea I've put together. Self tapping screws seemed to need Herculean strength to tighten fully - some of them I ended up leaving halfway tightened.
Instructions are not so clear and the tab construction of the drawers is finicky. Looks pretty good once built though!3
Looks greatAnonymous reviewerLooks great but it’s not the easiest to construct from the instructions provided4
excellentAnonymous reviewerthis filing cabinet is really good quality and holds a lot of files. it is easy to assemble and looks great5
Avoid, avoid, avoid Anonymous reviewerWhere do I start….
Instructions are incomplete, unclear and simply a mess at best. Whoever signed off this product off for design, their instructions and release to a retail sale environment needs sacked at IKEA.
If you value your time, energy and sanity avoid this product like the plague!
NB: nice to look at yes, but do not let the look deceive you as it did me. Plus read the reviews on here and on Google. 1
Top little cabin3tAnonymous reviewerGreat quality and looks good. 5
Don't let the reviews put you off!Anonymous reviewerI nearly gave this a miss after reading the reviews. I am hardly a technical person and didn't want to have to give up halfway.
I found it a lot easier than I thought I would. My recommendations are the following:
1. At each step look at the photos on the website with each piece's placement to check it looks as it should.
2. When putting the drawers together use decorating tape to stick the sides to the bottom.
3. Screws go in very slowly and gently.
4. Step 18 seemed straightforward but I put the back panels in the wrong way round, then the drawers wouldn't go in. Once I turned the backs the right way round, the drawers fit in easily.
5. There are no instructions on putting the drawers in, because when it's all put together right they will pretty much slot in, so if you're having trouble, go back to previous steps.
Having said all this - IKEA you could make this easier by labelling the panels!4
Great cabinet but could do with lockable wheelsAnonymous reviewerI recently purchased this filing cabinet, and overall, I am pleased with it. It has ample storage space, and the drawers slide smoothly, making it easy to access my A4 documents. However, I do have one concern about the cabinet's wheels. While they make it easy to move the cabinet around, they are not lockable and tend to roll around a bit when I am trying to open or close the drawers. This can be a little frustrating at times, but it is a minor issue overall. All in all, I recommend this filing cabinet to anyone looking for sturdy and reliable storage.4
Great when finished!Anonymous reviewerThis is tricky to assemble and that comes from an aircraft engineer. Great when built though, worth the effort.
Only gripe would be that it moves when opening drawer on a wooden floor. Would be awesome if you could secure the wheels with a brake. Minor gripe though.5
Assembly isn't that bad! And quality is really niceAnonymous reviewerI'm very pleased with this unit. It's not cheap for what it is but it has a lovely quality finish, feels solid and fits in perfectly with the matching sit/stand desk.
Assembly isn't the easiest in the world, fine, but it really isn't as bad as some reviews would make it sound. It took me about 90 minutes on my own. I found the drawer runners a bit fiddly to attach but got there by taking my time.
Still to use it for a while but I will update if there are any issues. So far, so good.5
Nice, but hard to assembleAnonymous reviewerA great looking thing that fits well with the IDASEN desk. However, I usually *love* a good Ikea assembly session, but this one was tough. I knew I was in trouble when I found the self-tapping metal screws in the package. Wound up using tape to hold the drawers together until I could get some screws in and they became stable. All a consequence of this unit being all-metal which, ironically, is its best feature.4
Good unit, if challenging to constructAnonymous reviewerI'm delighted with my drawer unit, and put it together by myself in a smaall space in about 90 minutes. BUT. It required a lot of time and patience, and I've made A LOT of IKEA furniture. I went through and labelled mine with the number of the instruction they were for, and separated the screws out, labelled with their codes. Very nerdy, but meant I knew what piece was next. Even then, I put some in upside down! Really take your time with this.
My top tips would be:
- Keep an eye on the hooks and slots when doing the drawers, they can slip out easily.
- Move the piece around to give you the best access to screws. Some of the angles are very awkward
- Use a ratcheting screwdriver. Screwing into metal is tough, and sometimes you have to push through a stiff bit to make it go in.
- There are no instructions on how to fit the drawers to the runners, which is a bit weird. Definitely pull the runners out, drop the drawer on, and then push it back, which makes it much easier.5
Nightmare to buildAnonymous reviewerWhen finally built, this is a great storage unit but the instructions are a nightmare - I can usually build Ikea furniture fairly easily but these instructions were certainly not clear with very poor explanation - it took of us about 6hrs to build it and several times had to start over again2
Really nice and stylishAnonymous reviewerYes it’s a bit complicated to put together but just take your time and it’s all worth it. It is such a great little cabinet. Has a real retro look to it and looks so much better then the standard 2 draw cabinet out there. The little storage on the top is great too.5
Superb!Anonymous reviewerGreat item, looks really cool in my son’s bedroom! A bit fiddly to put together but worth persisting.5
