Classy and sturdyAnonymous reviewerI love the combination of white and wood, which gives this an unusual and individual look, rather than looking very 'IKEA'. Nice and tall, fits a decent amount of books. Feels sturdy which is more like what IKEA used to be like 20 years ago rather than the mostly flimsy, cheaper-looking bookcases sold now. Pleased with this purchase and have now bought two.

Brilliant, but...Anonymous reviewerThis is a brilliant book case that looks smart and lifts the room, but... wanting to buy matching furniture in the Hemnes range is difficult - the green colour, which I love, has not been available in most of the range - have been trying to purchase a half height cabinet since shortly after purchasing 3 matching bookshelves - and it is yet to be available - which is really rather frustrating. Please make more of the range available in this colour.

A lovely coloured shelving unitAnonymous reviewerWe purchased this lovely shelving unit ready made up from the clearance section at IKEA in Exeter. We loved the space between the shelves and the colour was great. The only thing ‘wrong’ with it was a chip on one of the legs at the bottom which we figured would be hidden near enough by the carpet. It was a new product and we saved £60 on buying a new one plus, a big plus, someone at IKEA had assembled it and checked it over.
It is a good size, bigger than a billy bookcase and just right for my husband to store his radio controlled cars on.

It oozed quality, is well made and went together like a dream. The sturdy shelves provide a good depth, to take large and small format books. In all I am very pleased with it . Solid, ExcellentAnonymous reviewerA solid, excellent bookcase, with shelves that don't "bow" if you put anything heavier than a paperback on them. Perhaps it says the most of I say that this is my third purchase of Hemnes.
Garbage and dangerousAnonymous reviewerNot even worth 50 quid and far less stable and sturdy than a Billy version. Hopelessly flimsy, the front two legs are the thickest parts of it, the back 'lehs' are each only half that width making it very unstable and essential to fit to wall because it will topple. The middle shelf is structural to hold the paper light assembly together. However all of the other shelves just balance on pins, the front edges using holes that barely line up, when fitted the shelves leave cm gap between the frame on either side. All of the shelves continually fall from these pins even when empty and pose a danger to any adult never mind child. Frightening to think what would happen with a loaded shelf if anyone brushed past it or it just decided to collapse on its own, which it does.
Buy a Billy don't waste your money on theseAnonymous reviewerWe bought these less than 2 years ago and they are coming apart at the sides. We thought these would look better and last longer but we couldn't have been more wrong. Your customer service response was very disappointing too - would expect you to take more pride in your products. a product lasting less than 2 years especially given your apparent environmental credentials is just not good enough.

Nightmare installation, nice product. Anonymous reviewerI’m handy when it comes to DIY. Nothing much phases me. However, this product tested my patience. The instructions are clear enough, however the backing boards were cut so out of line, that it wouldn’t slot in place. I spent 30 minutes sanding it down so it would eventually fit and hold in place with the help of extra screws. Lastly, the bottom shelf actually made me laugh out loud. Again, cut at an angle meaning we have a gap tapering along one of the shelves. It looks nice, but goodness me what a mission. I agree with others, the production of IKEA furniture has really suffered as of late.
