HAVFJÄDER lampshade was designed by Bent Boysen and called CIRKEL when it was shown in our 1979 catalogue. A brilliant example of timeless design.

Easy to take home since the lampshade comes in a flat-pack.

Agree, very poor quality and impracticalAnonymous reviewerAgree, looks nice, but its VERY poorly engineered. As with many Ikea electrics it does not fit easily with a UK light fitting. The fitting is flimsy. It doesn't not balance the lamp shade well and the metal prongs keep coming away as you try to fit it and ultimately the flimsy plastic disc broke - a flimsy disc to carry a heavy plastic shade. And as another reviewer wrote, the plastic fins are flimsy and easily break when you remove them, which you have to do to fit the light bulb. This is one of the worst products I've bought from Ikea in the past 20 years. Don't buy!1

Very poor qualityAnonymous reviewerThis lampshade looks nice, but to pu it up or change the bulb, the "fan blades" need to be removed. These are dangerously fragile and I snapped two of them just removing them. I would not recommend this product as it is far too fragile and you cannot order replacement "fan blades" for it. Nice idea, just not executed properly :(1

Designer thoughts

Between the years 1979 to 1987, Bent Gantzel-Boysen designed several lamps for IKEA as a freelance designer. His first creation was CIRKEL pendant lamp, which we are now proudly relaunching as HAVSFJÄDER lampshade in the Nytillverkad collection. Bent was a humble man and not much for awards or ceremonies. But in the IKEA catalogues, his name stands proudly next to his brilliant designs, and we are lucky to have been a part of his history.
