Our butler sink with the drainer at the back has spontaneously crackedAnonymous reviewerWe purchased the double ceramic kitchen sink with the drainer at the back in 2019. tromso/domjo? It hasn’t been overly used (just 2 people in the household) as we have a utility room sink for laundry. It has spontaneously cracked badly and hasn’t done well considering it is still under the long guarantee. It needs to be replaced but the design is no longer available. We need one the same size but cannot find one. I don’t want to have to replace the kitchen cabinets. Does anyone have suggestions.2
Great until it’s cracked!Anonymous reviewerGreat sink for the price, easy to clean, has been so practical for the last 18 months, however out of nowhere it’s now developed a crack. Seems to be a regular fault… Unsure whether to replace with like for like or look elsewhere, other than this issue it’s been a great sink for the price! 3
Think Carefully...Anonymous reviewerAre you buying Form over Function? Against my best wishes, based on previous experiance, I fitted a Belfast Sink instead of a Stainless Steel sink. The surface of a BS will microcrack over time. depending on use, even with the use of a traditional plastic bowl. Cleaning will eventually be a pain trying to remove any stains. So my best advise, is don't. Get a Stainless Steel sink that won't rust, bust, chip or peel. Might get a dent or two, but these are insignificant compared to micro crack staining or even the bigger cracks and chips, DONT!3
Cracked !!Anonymous reviewerAbsolutely gutted. Had this fitted under a year and crack appeared in right hand bowl. Nothing has damaged this as we have a dishwasher for washing items so sink just used for cleaning veg etc. seems to be a massive design fault as have just read all previous reviews. I didn’t think a one’s product would be not only so poor but continue to be on sale after so many have had the same problem. If someone from Ijea coukd look into this I’d appreciate it. It has from memory a long guarantee so expect thus to be sorted but now don’t know what to do as new kitchen fitted around this so size and shape replacement??!1
Cracked after 1 year.Anonymous reviewerI’m really disappointed with this sink. It developed a large crack after 1 year of use. No damage was caused, in fact it happened while we were away on holiday. We arrived back to a cracked sink. It is also hard to clean and looks dirty very quickly. It was a bad choice.1
Awaiting kitchen fitting Anonymous reviewerNot installed as yet but looks an excellent piece of kit4
Cracked and difficult to cleanAnonymous reviewerI can't believe this has cracked - we are very careful with putting things in our sink and hardly ever use it to wash up - it's been in for about 18months and we noticed it a month ago and its getting bigger. The sink looks beautiful but it is a pain to clean. When we replace it, we wont go for this sink again. Very disappointed.2
Nice Belfast Double Sink.Anonymous reviewerThe product is of high quality. Comes complete with all couplings for installation. The price was very very good. Collected from a Super store FOC and the service at the collection point very professional and quick.5
Sadly cracked like most other reviews…Anonymous reviewerUnfortunately I bought this sink in summer 2019 having always liked the Belfast style sink, but getting the rest of my kitchen from IKEA this one made sense and looked lovely. Sadly with no impact the left basin cracked, initially was a hairline crack but is now becoming thicker. It looks like most people have this issue, which is surprising when the guarantee is 25 years you expect the sinks to last at least 25 years! 1
CrackedAnonymous reviewerSo disappointed, I had the original ikea double butler sink which was fantastic, I had it for years. Forward to April of this year and a new kitchen being fitted. I tried to remove the old sink and unfortunately I smashed it so had to replace with this sink for the new kitchen. The sink looks lovely but I have had a crack appear in the right hand bowl. It has only been installed just over 3 months. So disappointing and costly to now have to remove and replace. Not the ikea quality I would expect.1
great sinkAnonymous reviewerreally like it5
Very Dissatisfied Anonymous reviewerI have only had this sink fitted for a couple of months and already there is severe staining under the ceramic coating on both sinks, despite being diligent with care. I also have a single sink of the same design used in the utility room, which is starting to go the same way. The units for this double sink had to be made bespoke as the sink does not fit a standard unit and was pleased I found a product that was ergonomically better for me than a standard butler sink.. Gutted that I didn't take on board the reviews stating cracks had appeared within their product, as I assume this will now happen now the coating has weakened. The thought of having brand new units and worktops replaced due to a faulty product is not an option. Please don't buy this product!1
Lovely sinkAnonymous reviewerLooks lovely. Nice quality5
Crack on Havsen double sinkAnonymous reviewerI bought a full kitchen in Oct 2020. Sink looked fab. Within a year / overnight a crack appeared. The sink had not been abused , come this year and the crack has deepened and surface breaking up. Now I have read reviews that I am not alone with this problem. It would have been helpful if IKEA had notified about the problem. Love the design, concerned about the quality.1
Very DisappointedAnonymous reviewerVery disappointed to discover a crack in our sink - it just seemed to appear overnight and having now read other reviews this seems to be a design flaw with the product. A real shame as otherwise this had been really nice looking and functional1
Gutted ! Cracked needs replacingAnonymous reviewerGutted ! Exactly same as others on here small tiny hairline crack started to appear in the right hand bowl. Should have done something the but hoped it would be ok. Now it’s gone larger and spreading got fitter out he said only remedy is to replace it 😢 but he’s sure it will just break completely when removed becaus it’s so well sealed in with silicone. Got to be a design fault for so many to be the same surely !1
Holy Sink BatmanAnonymous reviewerLike many many other reviews here, my sink also cracked without provocation! Recently, the crack extended, causing breakage and I now have a hole in one of the bowls. Expensive to purchase and even more expensive to replace. This suggests more than a design fault…I’d suggest either poor tooling or casting at the manufacturer. Either way, nearly £600 down for a kitchen sink is pretty poor. My experience says choose another sink for your kitchen.1
Sink cracked like othersAnonymous reviewerHad the same sink design from IKEA last time for near 20 years, this one lasted just a few months before a huge crack appeared. Others have said the same here and my husband thinks the quality has dropped since the previous model. A lot of money to pay for a cracked sink. Nice design just not fit for purpose. Will now have to replace again looking at other options.1

lovely sink, very practical to useAnonymous reviewerI love this sink, it’s very practical and looks great. My kitchen/ utility is very modern but I wanted a ‘country’ feel so have it in both , visitors always make comments about how nice it looks . I’ve given it a 3 for installation as my builder said it wasn’t easy to fit !5

Material

What is ceramic?

Ceramic is a heat-resistant and durable material that has been used by humans to make practical objects for thousands of years. The base material is different types of clay that are oven-burned and become things like terracotta, stoneware, pottery and porcelain. At IKEA we mainly use ceramic for plant pots, porcelain, washbasins and kitchen sinks. Since it can be shaped and even glazed to the desired colour and shine, the possibilities of styles and looks are endless.
