Bought for daughter"s room. SheVerified BuyerBought for daughter's room. She finds it comfortable to sit on and it's perfect for sleepovers5
Great little sofa bed perfectVerified BuyerGreat little sofa bed perfect for my space I needed dit for...5
Small sofaWaderaVery easy to assemble - I done this only by my self. Good quality - two people sleep without any problem. Nothing wrong - happy customer5
Sleep at EaseCool43Easy to assembly - and user ready in a short space of time. Surprisingly strong and the colour fits in anywhere being cool and dark5
HAMMARN sofa bedPioneThis must be the most uncomfortable sofa I have ever sat on. The seat is so deep you are virtually lying down. The sofa dips in the middle, it's like sitting on a hammock. You would be struggling to fit 2 people on the bed which also dips in the middle. I'm so disappointed. The benefits are that it is strong and well made. It's small, so fits a tiny room and would probably suit a young person1
Very goodAsmi PGood size foldable sofa bed. Would had been nice if the mattress was little thicker. I top it up with a duvet and a foam mattress topper. Still Happy5
Sofa BedAllison47Mattress is a little thin, but it looks great and is so easy to put up. space underneath to store the duvet and pillows, which is brilliant. Overall great design5
Value for moneyNicmiloNot personally slept on it but family have. Comfortable but you tend to roll into the middle. Not quite a double bed. When a seat is very deep but some large cushions should help5
Perfect occasional sofa bedMumkeyPurchased this for my son’s bedroom, fits into the alcove excellent for snuggling up with cushions to read. When folded out despite having no mattress (the cover is slightly padded) us surprisingly comfortable as a bed, although if the cover were a little more padded it would be better.4
Gods value sofa bedJomo12Not as easy to assemble as most of the other IKEA products I’ve bought. But great value for a handy occasional bed. Not comfy enough for an everyday sofa - not much padding- but perfect for small guest room.4
Poor qualityCrisB219Bought the small sofa-bed earlier this year, only assembled and open it 2 weeks ago, and is not as good as looked in store. The assembling was really tricky, especially regarding folding part, and 2 long screws were missing. Been to IKEA Greenwich to ask for spare parts and they did not have any similar ones... After sitting on it few moments the seating part started to sink, became quite uncomfortable, and had to use a thin folded mattress. If using it as a bed, probably would be ok only for one night and adding an extra mattress, otherwise is giving back-pain. After only a few days, the seating part lost its shape completely looking sunk and looks odd, and definitely not for a living-room/ studio. Quite disappointed with this product and would not recommend it.1
UsefulMickyboy57Doesn’t take up much space, works as seating and bed,4
Bargain sofa bedHelga SpectreThis is a great sofa bed for the price it costs. It makes comfortable seating too. The instructions state that two people are needed to assemble this item, I was able to do it on my own but it would have been quicker with two. It is very easy to convert between the sofa and bed.4
Finished product is 5 starCGCxFound this really hard to build even with my partner who can do manual labour! The instructions were a little unclear in bits and trying to get it to all come together was hard, but I'm delighted with the finished product. Absolutely excellent value for money as it does exactly what I wanted it for - a bed that took up little space but was available for those rare occasions we have people to stay.5
Poorly constructed and not durableHardworker69Started to fray Poorly during construction. Frame not solid and the mattress is not comfortable for a bed. Had to be sent back.2
Perfect for what I wantedJeans74Exactly what I wanted, the perfect size and style5
Sit or sleep.Ross53BExcellent for a comfortable sitting or sleep option. Add a mattress topper for an extra level.5
Sturdy and comfycaitstagram20Good quality for the price. It's sturdy and comfortable and has made a great addition to my gaming room. It is however slightly hard to build5
Sofa bedRed7Value for money quite challenging to put together but really pleased it is also comfy however for two people it would only be bearable for 2 nights5
HAMMARN Sofa-bed, Knisa dark grey/black, 120 cm

The speediest way from sofa to bed

Have you ever had one of those evenings where time just seemed to speed up? Somehow the clock wound forward and you've got to make the decision whether to stay or go home. That’s when sleeping arrangements usually are made and the evening is paused to pump up a mattress, or sort out a sofa. This is one of the moments the HAMMARN sofa bed was designed for. It takes 30 seconds (that's if you do it slowly) to go from sofa to bed, is lightweight and light on the wallet too. The secret: simplicity.

Sandra Johansson and Jonas Hultqvist were part of the development team. "A tight target does wonders for creativity," Sandra says. "To get the cost to where we wanted it, we realized we couldn't rely on what we'd done before, or what else was out there." Most things had to be rethought. "We were inspired by old camping beds as they're so economical in materials and need to be easy to move," Jonas says. "So we asked ourselves, could we build a sofa bed with stretch fabric like a camping bed?"

No compromise on comfort

Camping beds are not always very comfortable, though. "What's often a problem when using stretch material," Jonas says, "is that it can bow in the middle and you end up sleeping on each other rather than next to each other." The solution: easily tightened screws that keep the fabric tension at the right level.

A speedy transition

The next challenge was working out a good way to transition between sofa and bed, while keeping costs low. "We designed a mattress that could fold into 3 parts,” Sandra says. “In sofa mode you sit on two parts and have the third as a backrest. Then when you fold the bed out, you can fold the mattress out in the same way." HAMMARN quickly transforms from sofa to bed and weighs only 26 kilos. It seems sometimes simplicity is the best innovator.
