Despite being firmly grounded in the science of play, the design process was as playful as the products themselves. Each designer was asked to start in the everyday activity where they get lost in the moment and simply have fun – and to create items that make people smile. “To me, playfulness is a way of looking at life that boosts creativity and makes me believe that everything is possible. I won’t ever allow my inner child to grow up”, says Marta Krupinska, one of the designers behind the collection.

Built-in LED light source.
The soft light creates a non-glare light in the dark and means that the battery time lasts much longer.
The light source has a lifetime of approx. 25,000 hours. This corresponds to about 20 years if the lamp is on for 3 hours per day.
The built-in timer turns the lamp off after 15 minutes.
The lamp should be put on the floor and not on a bench, shelf or other place high up.

Are you having a giraffe?.......Anonymous reviewerWhat a strange looking giraffe lamp. I had to have it for the grannybaby's new room as soon as I saw it. The legs were easy to add on as they just screw in. It fits together very well but it was a little hard to get a grip of it to put the head on. The plastic slides. As it fits quite tightly and as I have arthritis, it took me a little while to put it together. It looks really good and the light is nice and warm. Adding the batteries is easy and the lamp part seems secure enough to prevent small fingers from messing with it. It is very easy to turn on so perfect for the grannybaby but it is unfortunate that it turns itself off after fifteen minutes. Will Ikea be revisiting this one to make it a constant light and if so will I have to buy another one?

“GREJSIMOJS decorative lighting shaped as a giraffe came from the idea of a lamp with a moving head. To meet all the tough safety requirements for children’s products, I needed to redesign it a few times, but each new challenge opened doors to better solutions. Slowly the lamp’s personality grew, and the result was both more fun and more well-thought-out. For me, it's more than just lighting. It's a friend to keep you company and watch over you as you're falling asleep."
