Review UpdateAnonymous reviewerJust to say that having posted about this rugs off gases recently, my rug finally stopped smelling of chemicals. But it took a good couple of weeks of airing it outside.
Now the smell is gone it's a lovely rug and I am very happy with it.

But... the smell!
From reading other reviews and the IKEA instructions here, I know you are supposed to air it first, so I gave it a couple of days outside on a washing line and and a couple of nights in a shed.
Brought it inside and still found the smell overpowering. It pervaded the whole room and made me feel quite nauseous.
I also have a cat, so if the smell affects me this way it must be worse for a small animal.
So... back outside it went.
I've had it on the line for 4 days now and 4 nights in the shed and the chemical smell is still there. It really is unpleasant.
I shall persevere a couple more days but if it is still smelling after a week outside I will sadly have to return it.
